Ulyanovsk region to improve the system of school transport
At the request of the Governor Sergey Morozov, the region is carrying out work to provide schoolchildren with travel privileges.
“Today children living in districts of the region get to school by buses absolutely free of charge. We got the system of school routes in the countryside on the right track long ago. But we should not forget about the children who live in our cities. It is necessary to make transportation of children in Ulyanovsk and Dimitrovgrad as comfortable as possible. This issue has become a top concern”, - the head of the region said.
Today, in the regional center one can see an automated system of preferential payment in city public transport, which uses the personalized "student card" feature. In addition, relevant agencies have monitored the needs of organization that provide transport for the needs of schoolchildren in Ulyanovsk and Dimitrovgrad.
The region continues to carry out the programme to update the school vehicle park in order to provide free transportation of children from rural territories to schools and back.
The Governor heard a presentation by the Minister of Education and Science Natalya Semyonova. According to the head of the Ministry, new school buses worth more than 38 million rubles have been purchased through funds of the regional budget within implementation of the regional state programme for development and modernization of education.
“In total, twenty-three units of specialized vehicles were purchased for twelve municipalities in 2017. In addition, until the end of the year we expect to receive 26 school buses with a capacity of 22-24 people within the federal programme aimed to update the bus depot in Russia. Currently we are processing documents”, - Natalya Semyonova explained.
In total, 403 school routes from 462 settlements to 218 schools will be organized in the region in 2017/2018 academic year.
