Ulyanovsk student won a prize at the IV National Championship Worldskills Hi-Tech

The competition took place in Yekaterinburg and consisted of 31 spheres connected with high-tech industries, including 11 presentation ones.

More than 300 students and young specialists aged between 16 and 28 became participants of the championship. More than 100 modern companies working in the field of industry presented their workers. Their performance was estimated by Russian and international experts.

The Ulyanovsk region was represented by Raphael Salimov, a forth-year student of the Aviation College – the Interregional Center of Competences. He participated in the Production Assembly of Aircraft Components. The competition's tasks included assembly and installation of components according to the drawing, quality check of the completed work, correction of mistakes made during the assembly. Following the results, the Ulyanovsk resident took the third place.

Raphael Salimanov said that he is going to work in the aviation industry.

"I studied aeromodelling even before coming to the college. This was the first time I participated in the championship of the All-Russian level and I did not expect that I would be able to get into the top three. I was the only student participating in this nomination; other contestants included representatives of plants, workers of 3-5 categories. I studied specifically for the championship after training sessions. In our aviation college there is a training ground of the Interregional Competence Center that provides excellent conditions for training and has the cutting-edge equipment", - Raphael Salimanov said.

According to the relevant agency, the region has been participating in the Worldskills championship since 2014. That year, a student of ULSTU Mikhail Nazarov won the first place in the Milling with CNC Machines nomination.

“Our students are as successful as workers at the All-Russian level thanks to the complex work, which is carried out in the region by order of the Governor Sergey Morozov. At the beginning of academic year, the head of the region has set a number of tasks for training of qualified personnel and mid-tier professionals. In 2018, it is planned to use more than 200 million rubles from the regional budget on development of secondary vocational education”, - commented Natalya Semyonova, the Minister of Education and Science of the Ulyanovsk region.

According to the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Ulyanovsk region Andrey Tyurin, regional companies are interested in hiring highly qualified staff.

“Large plants of both aircraft industry and the mechanical engineering one are carrying out large-scale modernization of production, as well as transition to digital technologies. In addition, today the region is developing and implementing new and unique technologies in a number of areas. One can say that sometimes they have a scientific approach rather than a production one. In this regard, Ulyanovsk companies need well trained human resources. Almost all large plants of the region have basic departments in Ulyanovsk universities and work with specialized secondary educational institutions”, - Andrey Tyurin commented.
