On 25 January, the head of the region took part in the special event of the Ulyanovsk State Pedagogical University (ULSPU) called "Night in the Pedagogical University".

The Prime Minister of the region Alexander Smekalin congratulated all guests.
"We are very pleased to see that this holiday brings together our universities, celebrates science and the desire to study, to learn something new, to improve yourself. We are grateful to Metropolitan Anastasius and Boris Kostishko, the rector of ULSU, that they organized this event. It is important for us, as the region has chosen a development strategy, implementations of innovative technologies and developments of modern science. The Governor Sergey Morozov has set the priority sphere - technological leadership, development of creative industries, the IT industry. Everything that is connected with science, quality education, and determination to be the best. That is why the Tatiana Day, the Student's Day, is one of the major holidays for the region. I heartily congratulate all students and I wish them to realize their potential and to become successful here, in the territory of the Ulyanovsk region", - Alexander Smekalin said.
According to the dedicated experts, the region has a comprehensive set of measures for support of students. There are 15 types of Governor's grants for students of universities and special secondary educational establishments, graduate students and teachers. These grants are named after outstanding figures of science, culture, and education whose life and work are connected with the history of the Simbirsk-Ulyanovsk region. Provincial competition for youth projects is still the largest measure of support, which general fund makes 1.5 million rubles. Another major activities include the annual competition for projects of interregional and local youth and children's public associations (in 2017, 5 million rubles were allocated for this purpose), as well as the competition for projects on work with youth in higher education institutions (prize fund makes 4 million rubles).
