Three Ulyanovsk residents applied for participation in the Youth Bandy World Championship
From 22 to 24 March, the Ulyanovsk region will host a major international sports event. The Volga-Sport-Arena will serve as the main venue for the Bandy World Championship among sportspeople under the age of 17.
“Once again the Ulyanovsk region has confirmed the status of one of the main centers for development of world bandy. Successful experience of the World Cup held in 2016 and assistance of the Governor Sergey Morozov allow us to host the youth championship. I am sure that fans will see future stars of the world bandy among the participating teams”, - emphasized Vladimir Lazarev, the Minister of Sport of the Ulyanovsk region.
National teams of the Russian Federation, Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Estonia and Kazakhstan will take part in the competition.
Starting from 14 March, the Volga-Sport-Arena will open a training camp for Russia national team's candidates to participate in the world championship. Among them there are students from Ulyanovsk hockey schools - Artem Meleshkin, Artem Bagiyan and Alexey Golovin. After the training, coaches will select the team that will compete to become the best in the world.
“It is planned to hold an opening ceremony before the first match of the Russia national team. Its main part will include a fifteen-minute-long laser show, which main focus will be culture and way of life in the participating countries”, - said Mayis Dadashov, a special events manager of ANO "Ulkongress".
