One of the main tournaments among athletes up to the age of 17 years has come to the end in the regional center.
“Having become the venue for competitions of such a high level, the Ulyanovsk region has once again proved that it is ready to receive guests from different regions and countries. Our land is one of the main centers for development of the world bandy. Ulyanovsk residents of different age are always looking forward to these sport festivals. Fans are interested in bright and spectacular competitions which include athletes from around the world. These games have become a true holiday for hundreds of participants and thousands of fans, as well as a noticeable milestone in the history of local sport”, – the Governor Sergey Morozov emphasized.
Teams from Russia, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Kazakhstan competed in the region from 22 to 24 March. The Bandy World Championship has already been praised by international experts. "We have participated in competitions in different countries of the world and Russian cities, but today Ulyanovsk has demonstrated a high level of professionalism in the organization of competitions. We have been surprised how well-mannered the fans were. They actively supported not only the Russian national team but also all participants of the competitions", - noted Teemu Lehtinen, the head coach of the Finland national team.
According to Sergey Kuzmin, the Vice-Chairman of the regional Government, more than 14 thousand people came to the Volga-Sport-Arena to watch the competition. About 32 thousand fans watched a live television broadcast.
“I give my sincere thanks to Ulyanovsk fans and guests who welcomed and supported us during the competition, which took place in the beautiful Volga-Sport-Arena ice palace.
