More than one hundred countries are going to present their national sports at the I World Martial Arts Festival in the Ulyanovsk region
The organizing committee for preparation and carrying out of sports events in the territory of the region took place on 16 April. It was attended by Wolfgang Baumann, the Secretary General of the international Sport for All organization.
"I represent TAFISA and we think that the Ulyanovsk region will be able to hold this festival successfully because it is a place with a very rich history and all the necessary sports infrastructure. The aim of our festival is to make as many inhabitants of the region as possible participate in this event. That is why we will consider the possibility to hold demonstration performances in Ulyanovsk open public space. In addition, I was able to see that the Ulyanovsk region has an excellent team, which understands specifics of these events and will make everything to make Ulyanovsk a part of the great TAFISA history as the best organizer of the international forum", - the Secretary General commented.
Agreements on holding the festival were reached last year in July. The document was signed by Sergey Morozov, the governor of the Ulyanovsk region, and Zhu Huo Chang, the president of the international Sport for All organization. The meeting with TAFISA management took place in Kazan during the VI International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials Responsible for Physical Education and Sport (MINEPS). The Ulyanovsk region received the right to hold the world games after the draw and a visit of the international expert commission.
On 16 April, participants of the organizing committee suggested holding the festival in September 2019. It is planned that the event will last five days. These proposals will be submitted to the management of TAFISA for approval during the next executive committee meeting, that will take place in China in May.
"The Ulyanovsk region has good traditions in martial arts and is the center for development of all types of combat sport. We will work to improve infrastructure of facilities and to provide all venues with the necessary equipment. This event aims to improve philosophy of a healthy lifestyle. These values are promoted by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the Governor Sergey Morozov", - emphasized the Prime Minister of the region Alexander Smekalin.
According to organizers of the event, within one and a half years it is planned to build plate structures and mobile sporting complexs in the territory around the Volga - Sport - Arena center. New facilities will also be included in the programme of the festival. In addition to the ice arena, exhibition performances will take place in the municipal institution of complementary education "Orion" and other places in the region.
“The format of the festival will allow to bring together different countries and cultures. They will not compete but will share their history, sports, skills and knowledge instead. The World festival will also include conferences and exhibitions, as well as a business programme that will allow to improve not so much political but friendly and sports relations between the countries. The Ulyanovsk region actively develops exhibition and conference activities. This project is necessary for our state and the other friendly countries. Now we are working to include the festival in the plan of the Ministry of Sport and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation”, - commented Sergey Kuzmin, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Ulyanovsk region.
It is expected that the festival will draw attention of international sports official to the region and will help to continue implementation of the Healthy region concept.
“This important international sports event will bring together the strongest masters of martial arts from all around the world. They will demonstrate their skills, as well as specific features of their national sports. The festival will focus on competitions in a wide range of athletic disciplines. It is planned that the programme of the festival will also include bike rides and field-and-track races. It shows that mass sport is developing and is now available to all social groups. Many guests from different continents will see the culture of our great country, the Volga region and our region for the first time. The first international festival will aim to strengthen the peace between nations and continents. The event is not competitive and this proves that rivalry is not as important as bringing people through an active and healthy lifestyle”, - noted Vladimir Lazarev, the Minister of Physical Education and Sport of the Ulyanovsk region.
