Representative of the Embassy of Germany in the Russian Federation Jerzy Bohdanowicz highly praised work of healthcare institutions in the Ulyanovsk region
On 18 April, the head of the labor, healthcare and social security unit of the Department of Economy and Science at the Embassy of Germany examined work of the perinatal center "Mama" and the AIDS Center.
In the maternity hospital, the expert visited the neonatal resuscitation department, the operational unit, wards for pregnant women, the delivery room, the simulation class, as well as sensory and training rooms. The guest from Germany was also shown equipment for computer and telecommunication technologies that help to exchange medical information with specialists of federal centers (including consultations on complex medical cases).
“Equipment for telemedicine is mobile, so it will be possible to carry out virtual patients rounds with experts from federal centers. It will make the tertiary care system more accessible to any patient regardless of the location"” – said Marina Iglina, the Director of the perinatal center.
Jerzy Bohdanowicz has emphasized that telemedicine is a developing sphere of social services and has suggested holding a seminar by means of telemedicine with participation of medical experts from Germany and Russia. The head of the labor, healthcare and social security unit at the Embassy of Germany was also interested in how the region works with patients after they leave healthcare facilities.
According to Marina Iglina, a School for Pregnant Women has opened at the perinatal center just recently, and the School for Parents of Prematurely-Born Children has been working successfully for over a year. “During the lessons future mothers and people who are already parents gain all necessary knowledge to take care of their child and carry out rehabilitation. This year a catamnesis department will start its work, which will look after a child until they reach the age of 1.5 years.”
By order of the Governor Sergey Morozov, a School of Healthy Child and Young Parents project is implemented in the Ulyanovsk region to provide help and information to young parents. It has become a part of the Decade of Childhood, which started in 2018 at the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation.
The expert has also highly praised facilities of the modern in-patient department.
“The first thing that I want to mention is the high quality of equipment. I was impressed by the is impressed by the organizational aspect: the perinatal center has everything to provide quick help to patients, so any woman – wherever she has some problems with her pregnancy or not - will receive necessary and timely help here! I am impressed that each health worker of the perinatal center can receive additional training directly in the medical institution in the simulation class. I will try to do everything possible to develop your close cooperation with medical institutions of Germany. I am sure that it will be useful for both parties. We can learn from each other”, – Jerzy Bohdanowicz said.
Representatives of the AIDS Center talked about the system that is used to organize laboratory research and to render medicated support to patients in the region. According to the experts, the parties are ready to consider among common points such spheres as information, experience and experts exchange.
“For us this meeting is very important, and we hope that it will lead to effective bilateral cooperation between the Ulyanovsk region and Germany. All efforts are aimed to improve life of HIV-positive people through new health practices, training of our experts, foster of a tolerant attitude among the society to HIV-positive people. Counteraction to infection spread will become an important aspect of the cooperation”, – said Natalya Abdullova, the chief physician of the Ulyanovsk AIDS Center.
