In 2018 Ulyanovsk region will be visited by about 500 thousand tourists
Topics of interest in the tourist sphere were discussed within the Week of Tourism, which took place in the region by order of the Governor from 23 to 29 April. III International tourist forum and exhibition "Holiday on the Volga" became the main part of the event and was visited by more than three thousand inhabitants and guests of the region.
In total, more than 30 cultural and business events took place during the week. “I am convinced that the Ulyanovsk region has great potential as a tourist center. Our task is to make the maximum of all opportunities provided by history and nature of the native land. In turn, we will do our best to show our region as the most interesting tourist route. The annual Week of Tourism is one of the mechanisms that will help us achieve this goal. In 2018, we are going to implement 12 tourist projects with the total investment of about 600 million rubles; the flow of tourists will increase up to 500 thousand a year. This will also help to attract over 800 million rubles into the regional budget. These funds will be used to create and maintain tourist infrastructure, new interesting routes and projects”, - the Governor Sergey Morozov noted.
From 25 to 27 April Ulyanovsk welcomed participants of the All-Russian Forum "Event Russia" (Rossiya Sobytijnaya). Over three days, eighteen trainings were carried out to promote tourist events. These included round table discussions, seminars, and workshops. Twenty-three experts from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Samara, Voronezh, and Yaroslavl took part in the business programme. The All-Russian competition "Tourist Souvenir", which was attended by representatives from 10 regions of the Volga Federal District, was held during the same period.
Holiday on the Volga exhibition included more than 100 exhibitors from Kirov, Chuvashia, Saratov, Samara, and Penza regions, as well as 12 municipal units of the Ulyanovsk region. Representatives of the professional community from the People's Republic of China, Iran and Uzbekistan have participated in the forum for the first time. During the event a cooperation agreement was signed between the Agency for Tourism of the Ulyanovsk region and the largest tour operator of Iran. Within this document, Ulyanovsk will welcome fans from the East during the FIFA World Cup. "This year we expect a considerable increase in the tourist flow (by about 15% in comparison with the last year). In 2017 the Ulyanovsk region was visited by 480 thousand tourists, and this year we expect additional 500 thousand people", - said Yulia Skoromolova, the Director of the Agency for Tourism of the Ulyanovsk region.It is planned to involve 18 thousand employees from the tourism sphere and at least 5 thousand employees from allied industries to ensure sucsessful reception of tourists. According to UNWTO, on the average one tourist spends 5 thousand rubles a day while visiting regions of the Russian Federation. As a result, the regional budget will receive over 160 million rubles as taxes.
