Governor of the Ulyanovsk region has held negotiations in Germany regarding creation of a suppliers park in the region

During a working trip to Germany, Sergey Morozov has discussed with DMG MORI, a Japanese-German company that is already working in the region, if it is possible to create a suppliers park. Its main objective will be cooperation with Ulyanovsk and Russian enterprises in general to deliver components necessary for production of machines. The company is planning to develop further cooperation in the territory of Russia and with foreign business. The investor takes this step within implementation of the localization plan, which is a part of the special investment contract signed earlier.


“We and the management of the company have discussed further development plans in the Ulyanovsk region, the use of a digital control approach in production, and training of employees for these competences and employment at hi-tech enterprises. We also talked about creation and expansion of a suppliers park of the company in the territory of Zavolzhye Industrial Zone”, – Sergey Morozov noted.

Within the meeting, the head of the region and the management of DMG MORI have discussed organization of a Technology Symposium, which would take place in the Ulyanovsk region in October 2018. The company will act as the organizer of the event with assistance of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Ulyanovsk region. Within the symposium, there will be sessions devoted to exchange of experience and expert analysis; speakers will talk about the know-how that was developed by the machine-tool enterprise for Russian manufacturers of metal-cutting equipment and their suppliers. The first event of this kind and in such format too place in November 2017. During the meeting, participants had an open dialogue about the world main technology trends with focus on their applicability in Russia. The main purpose of the symposium is to discuss possibilities for cooperation in the new digital era. This will help to create a culture of multilateral communication between consumers, suppliers and government agencies in the Russian segment of metal-cutting equipment.

In 2015, DMG MORI constructed a machine-tool plant in Zavolzhye Industrial Park, which became the first one constructed in the territory of Russia over the last 25 years. The investment into the project made over 4 billion rubles. The enterprise created 150 jobs for inhabitants of the region. In September 2016, the company, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Ulyanovsk region signed a special investment contract on localization of component production for machines in Russia.

Germany is one of the main economic partners of the Ulyanovsk region. The government of the region and Development Corporation have been developing relationship with Germany for a long time; the region effectively cooperates with the Russian-German Foreign Trade Chamber, the Association of German Engineers, and the Eastern Committee of German Economy. There are ten German companies in the Ulyanovsk region. These include DMG MORI, Schaeffler, Jokey Plastik, Henkel, Quarzwerke, and a project in the sphere of medicine by Fresenius Medical Care.
