Construction of the Center of Nuclear Medicine in Dimitrovgrad is coming to the end

On 12 July, the head of FMBA of Russia Vladimir Uyba and the Governor Sergey Morozov expected its readiness for commissioning.


“From now on, the facility is specifically monitored by Dmitry Medvedev, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. On Monday during a briefing session in Moscow we will discuss official launch of the center. The commissioning plan for all stages should be presented until 20 December. All facilities should be completed until 31 December. Then we will start licensing with the best commissioning date and the start of medical operations. This task was set by Dmitry Medvedev. It is planned that he will visit the center under construction in September to check the progress of work”, - Vladimir Uyba noted.

The head of FMBA of Russia has also emphasized that even in case of the minimum schedule delay, they would consider changing the contractor. According to the expert, about 20 billion rubles are invested into the project - this amount of financing fulfils the requirements completely.

We would like to remind that the project is implemented in the territory of Dimitrovgrad by the order of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. This facility is the first in the country that will offer cancer care and will bring together all methods of diagnostics and treatment used in nuclear medicine. Thanks to innovative technologies, residents of the Volga Federal District and the country will be able to receive hi-tech help in the field of endocrinology, cardiology, neurosurgery, urology and immunology.

“Construction of one of the largest oncological medical facilities is coming to the final stage. That is why we have to strengthen measures for development of infrastructure in Dimitrovgrad. About 340 doctors and 640 nurses will work in the center; many highly qualified specialists will come to us from Moscow and St. Petersburg. We have to accelerate implementation of measures for development of the housing and hotel room stock and the system of kindergartens and schools, as well as to increase availability of social services”, - the Governor Sergey Morozov said.

At the request of the head of the region, road maps for complex development of Dimitrovgrad within a specified time frame will be prepared as soon as possible. In addition, he will specifically control preparation of corporate housing. The project includes construction of 26 houses with 750 apartments; 225 of them will be ready by October. It is planned to increase housing stock for specialists of the center three-fold in 2019.

According to Sergey Otrubchak, the director of the Federal center of nuclear medicine projects design and development of FMBA of Russia, the structure of the medical complex is intended to provide medical care to up to 20 thousand patients a year and includes more than 20 buildings. Commissioning is carried out in three stages. “Facilities of the first stage of construction are ready for operation and all necessary documentation has been prepared for commissioning. At the end of April, 2018, specialists of IBA, a company from Belgium, made completed the first medical treatment room with the Gantry system in the proton medicine wing; at the same time, a proton beam was emitted by a cyclotron. It is planned to complete the second stage of work until the end of August. It includes launch of radiological and rehabilitation buildings, an advisory policlinic, a PET Center, as well as a number of auxiliary facilities”, - Sergey Otrubchak explained.

At the moment construction of the highway along the territory of the Federal High-Technology Center of Nuclear Medicine is under way. It will connect the western part of Dimitrovgrad and the medical center. During the meeting, the date of its completion was specified – until 1 September. There are also projects for construction of related infrastructure, which includes development of the transport network and automobile and railway service with the nearest regional centers (Ulyanovsk and Samara).

During the working visit, Vladimir Uyba has also checked completion of the renovation work in the new surgical wing and the children's policlinic No. 3 of the hospital No. 172 of FMBA of Russia. Thirty million rubles from federal financing and CMI were used to bring the children health care institution in line with the standard of the medical organization. Completion of the work is scheduled for September, 2018.
