VIII International Artists Assembly "The Plastov's Fall" was opened in the Ulyanovsk region with a mass plein-air event
The events on 9 September were attended by the Governor Sergey Morozov.
“I congratulate you with the opening of the VIII International Artists Assembly "The Plastov's Fall". This year it is focused on two significant anniversaries. The first is in honor of the 125th anniversary since the birth of the great Russian artist, our fellow countryman Arkady Aleksandrovich Plastov; the second is in celebration of the 370th anniversary since the foundation of our favorite city, Simbirsk-Ulyanovsk. This year, young participants of the Assembly - pupils of comprehensive schools and children's art schools - will have the chance to meet famous artists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Stavropol, the Chuvash and Chechen Republics, Bashkortostan, and Tatarstan, as well as the ones from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Serbia. They will be able to benefit from invaluable master classes to find the way in art. The plein-air on the Volga coast is only a part of the Assembly's extensive programme; it is only the beginning of The Plastov's Fall. In the future there will be many fascinating events within the programme of the International Cultural Forum, which has also become the Creative Industries Forum this year”, - the head of the region said.
To celebrate the 125th anniversary since the birth of Arkady Plastov, famous artists came to the Ulyanovsk region from all over Russia and abroad.
“I would like to thank residents of this city and the Governor of the Ulyanovsk region that we, artists, have an opportunity to come together to Arkady Plastov's homeland and to carry out plein-airs and master classes. Art is life that we bring to our creations and we share it with other people”, - noted Adilkayyr Zhantasov, a participant of the International plein-air "World on a Brush Tip" ("Mir na Konchike Kisti"), a member of Kazakhstan Artists.
The Assembly was traditionally opened with a mass plein-air "Ulyanovsk – City of Artists" on Novy Venets Boulevard. About 500 artists took part in it this year. The boulevard also became the venue for master classes in fast-sketching "Sketch-versus" to mark the Day of Graphic Designer in Russia. In addition, Ulyanovsk artists, winners of the regional and international Plastov Award and participants of the plein-air "World on a Brush Tip" from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Stavropol, the Chuvash and Chechen Republics, Bashkortostan, and Tatarstan, held master classes for art teachers from city and regional schools.
“For the first time has passed not only the traditional plein-air was not the only event for artists that took place within the International Artists Assembly "The Plastov's Fall" on Novy Venets Boulevard. This year activities of the Assembly were followed by special events for all residents. Adults and children have dressed in costumes suits and masks participated in the carnival procession, as well as took part in interesting art activities and quizzes”, - said Evgeny Sidorov, Acting Minister of Art and Cultural Policy.
