Professional session for aspiring authors will take place in the Ulyanovsk region during XVIII International Forum of Young Writers from Russia, the CIS and Abroad

The main creative activities will be performed by Alexey Varlamov (a writer and the principal of Maxim Gorky Literature Institute), Maxim Zamshev (editor-in-chief of Literary Gazette), Natalya Ivanova (Doctor of Letters), as well as respected masters of national literature: Leonid Yuzefovich and Olga Slavnikova, winners of the national literary award "Big Book" ("Bolshaya Kniga"); Maria Vatutina, a winner of the I All-Russian tournament "Red Square. Time of poets"; and Tatyana Bulatova, a famous Ulyanovsk writer, a candidate of Philological Sciences and an associate professor of literature in the Ulyanovsk State Pedagogical University.


“XVIII International Forum of Young Writers will take place in the region from 16 to 22 September and will be carried out at the initiative of the Governor Sergey Morozov and with assistance of the Grant of the President of the Russian Federation. It will become a significant step in formation of the future national culture and worthy continuation of the great Russian literary traditions. More than 150 young poets and writers, playwrights and future critics will participate in daily masterclasses focused on development of modern prose, roundtable discussions and creative meetings. Thanks to participation in the professional programme, aspiring authors will get a chance to hear what the modern creative community thinks about their works, to develop their own style and to establish necessary creative connections”, - emphasized Evgeny Sidorov, Acting Minister of Art and Cultural Policy of the Ulyanovsk region .

Master classes of the professional session will take place under the guidance of editors-in-chief from famous Russian thick literary magazines: "Voprosy Literatury", "Druzhba Narodov", "Zvezda", "Znamya", "Kostyor", "Moskva", "Nash Sovremennik", "Neva", "Novyj Mir", "Arion", "Oktyabr", "Sovremennaya Dramaturgiya" and "Inostrannaya Literatura". Heads of groups will also include such famous cultural workers as Stanislav Kunyaev (a poet and a publicist, a winner of numerous Russian literary awards, a recipient of the Order of Friendship for his great contribution to the development of national culture and art and fruitful long-term career) and Evgeny Popov (a writer and the author of the first Internet novel).

Participants will also have a chance to attend a lecture and a seminar called "Theory and practice of literary quality and literary success" by the writer Mikhail Veller, a meeting with Maxim Zamshev (editor-in-chief of Literary Gazette), two thematic roundtable discussions called "Features of modern literature in Russia" and "Criticism and literature today".

In addition, there will be two evenings of short prose and young poetry "New names" with participation of Evgenia Dekina (a writer and an active participant of literary forums), as well as individual meetings with experts and consultations for young authors.

XVIII International Forum of Young Writers from Russia, the CIS and Abroad will be organized by Sergey Filatov's Fund of Socio-Economic and Intellectual Programs, Rossotrudnichestvo (Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation), the Government of the Ulyanovsk region, the Ministry of Art and Cultural Policy of the Ulyanovsk region, Ulyanovsk — the Cultural Capital Foundation and the Ulyanovsk regional scientific library n.a. V.I.Lenin.
