Sergey Morozov: "After the first seven months of 2018, export from the Ulyanovsk region has increased by more than 10%"
The head of the region made this announcement during the meeting with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Ulyanovsk region on 19 September.
The export amounted to over 179 million dollars; the share of non-oil goods made 85.82%.
Experts note high growth rates of foreign trade in the Ulyanovsk region. In 2017, export made about 700 million dollars, which is a 61% increase compared to 2016. In the 2018, this indicator is already close to 11%. Growth of the total turnover in 2017 was more than 1.1 billion dollars. Import also increased by 120 million. The Governor Sergey Morozov has reported that in order to expand foreign markets, the region will re-structure work of the Center for Export Support in 2019; it will become a single Trade Center. “Now we are working to create a strategy for development of export activity in the Ulyanovsk region until 2030, which will help us create a clear strategy”, - noted the head of the region during the meeting with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Ulyanovsk region.
He has also ordered to consider establishing branch offices of the Centers for Export Development in all municipalities of the region and to prepare a strategy for trade development.
In 2018, ninety-seven countries became partners of the Ulyanovsk region in the sphere of export. The key ones included Kazakhstan, Belarus, Ireland, Hungary, Germany, Iran, the USA, Ukraine, Syria, and Azerbaijan. They provide foreign market with cars and automotive components, engineering and woodworking products, furniture, grain and food goods. “It is especially important that new players come to the export sphere. Twenty companies from the Ulyanovsk region have started exporting their products; this was achieved with assistance of the regional Center for External Commodity Turnover Support. Such companies as OOO "Unikom", OOO "Ladya-Povolzhye", Himteks-RTI, OOO "Ekorotang", and OOO "Yarus" have actively contributed to the process. For better promotion of our companies, we are working to create three hubs in the territory of Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Just yesterday, we held a meeting with the business community regarding establishment of the first hub in the Czech Republic. At the same time, the Center for Export Support receives a lot of reports about problems with delivery of the first sample shipment. For example, logistics of frozen goods transportation is quite difficult. In this regard, I gave an assignment to provide additional financing for subsidy assistance to SME in delivery of product samples and first deliveries. I think that such subsidy will allow to organize effective logistics of product samples made by regional enterprises and will reduce both transportation costs and bottom-line price of products. This will also make our goods more competitive”, - Sergey Morozov said.
According to Ruslan Gaynetdinov, Chairman of the Board of the Ulyanovsk Region Corporation for Enterprise Development, a decision has been made to establish a business office of the Ulyanovsk region in Southeast Asia. “Now we, our partner "Shelkovyj Luch" (China) the Port Special Economic Zone have started work on creation of the Center for Russia-China Trade. It is planned to establish trade and logistic platforms in PSEZ (Ulyanovsk region) and three provinces of the People's Republic of China. Within implementation of the export project of business offices, companies that will participate in this project will receive subsidies to partially repay their expenditures on delivery of sample goods and first shipments to hubs abroad”, - Ruslan Gaynetdinov reported.
