On 19 November, the head of the region will give a speech at the session "Russian regions: promising areas of cooperation" within the XV Joint Meeting of the Japanese-Russian and Russian-Japanese Committees on Economic Cooperation.

“The Ulyanovsk region and Japan have a longstanding and productive relationship. Over the last five years, we have implemented major joint projects  such as an assembly production of transport trucks by Isuzu Rus, a plant for production of automotive components by Bridgestone and TAKATA, and a machine-tool factory by DMG MORI. Just six months ago an investment contract was signed between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Ulyanovsk region and OOO "Isuzu Sollers". The event took place in the Moscow Kremlin in the presence of  Vladimir Putin (President of the Russian Federation) and Shinzo Abe (Prime Minister of Japan). In addition to close productive relations, we cooperate in such spheres as medicine, culture and sport”, – the Governor Sergey Morozov emphasized.

In 2018, the countries announced cross years of Russia and Japan. The general activity plan included an International Forum "Japanese Spring on the Volga". It took place in the Ulyanovsk region from 27 May to 3 June.

Within the visit to Japan, it is planned to sign a memorandum on cooperation and to carry out a number of business meetings. In addition, the Governor will hold negotiations with Mikhail Galuzin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Japan, and Sergey Egorov, Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Japan.
