Sergey Morozov has presented investment potential of the Ulyanovsk region in the United Kingdom

On 26 November, the head of the region made a speech at the IV Russian-British Business Forum “Partnership in Innovation”. He and the Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation also held negotiations with representatives of British business.

The forum was attended by Prince Michael of Kent, a member of the British royal family, Alexander Yakovenko (Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland), Arkady Dvorkovich (Chairman of the Skolkovo Foundation and FIDE President), as well as representatives of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, Business Russia ("Delovaya Rossiya"), and British and Russian business leaders – more than 500 participants in total.

“The business community has always supported the policy of cooperation and partnership between Russia and Great Britain. Despite the political tension, economic relations between our countries are becoming even stronger. In particular, we are actively developing our cooperation in non-oil sectors. I am sure that innovative industries will bring new opportunities for long-term Russian-British partnership.

The Ulyanovsk region is one of the leading territories. Unfortunately, our partners started to think that doing business in Russia is just too risky because of the increased foreign policy tension. Nevertheless, we are successfully working with investors from Germany, France, the Czech Republic and other countries, which governments joined the anti-Russian sanctions”, – noted the head of the region in his speech.

During the visit to the United Kingdom, the Governor signed a memorandum for implementation of an investment project to create a production of medicaments in partnership with a large international company. Together with Igor Ryabikov, First Deputy Director of the Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation, he also held negotiations with British companies working in the sphere of medicine, mechanical engineering, renewable energy and creative industries.

In addition, Sergey Morozov met with Prince Michael of Kent and John Desmond Forbes, third Viscount Waverley, a member of the House of Lords of the UK Parliament and Deputy Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Russia. In addition, the head of the region heal a meeting with the Ambassador and Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the United Kingdom, as well as with representatives of Wales business community. During negotiations, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation.
