Technology park of Soyuzmultfilm animation projects to be created in the Ulyanovsk region
On 5 December, Boris Mashkovtsev, director of the animation studio, participated in the Business Climate in Russia forum. He said that the studio is interested in creating animation technology parks in Russian regions. The platform that was created in Soyuzmultfilm about six months ago should be used as an example. The Ulyanovsk region was the first to agree to take part in this project.
"Today the world economy obviously gives priority to creative industries; in this regard, animation is just a perfect field of activity as a cross road between modern technologies and creativity. We are discussing creation of an animation technology park in the region, which will resemble the one that we are currently working on in Moscow. We think that it does make sense to implement this project in such wonderful regions as the Ulyanovsk region because it has a smooth production scheme. The creative industry is not different from any other one except that here everything starts from an abstract creative idea", – Boris Mashkovtsev said.
Boris Mashkovtsev discussed establishment of this technology park in the region with Igor Ryabikov (Deputy Director of Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation), Vadim Pavlov (Director of ANO DO "Agency for Technological Development of the Ulyanovsk region"), and Tatyana Ivshina (Director of the Foundation “Ulyanovsk – the Capital of Culture”). Following the meeting, it was decided to prepare an agreement that should be signed in the middle of December.
According to the head of Soyuzmultfilm, it will be a long-term project. The first jobs can be created only two years after the beginning of project implementation. In general, establishment of the technology park will take no less than three years. Boris Mashkovtsev also emphasized that for successful implementation of the project, the region must create a highly efficient group of experts in the field of animation. The studio will prepare requirements for them and will identify which competences are necessary. In the future, everything will depend on regional universities, which should correct the training programme. As a result, it should provide experts who will find employment in the territory of the Ulyanovsk region.
