Sergey Morozov has participated in a meeting of the joint Russian-German working group for strategic cooperation in economics and finance

During the meeting, which took place in Berlin on 12 December, the parties discussed prospects of economic relations development between the countries.

The joint Russian-German working group (SRG) aims to stimulate economic activities of German companies in Russia and Russian companies in Germany.

“I think that the possibility to make a speech today at the meeting of SRG is a major privilege. The Ulyanovsk region offers investors convenient economic terms and modern infrastructure of industrial parks, privileges, wonderful land plots and the legal framework. Our industry projects are focused on localization and integration into production chains of both Russian and foreign business. That is why we think that support of technology entrepreneurship is one of the main elements for innovative development. An example of such approach is creation of a new industry in Ulyanovsk – wind-power engineering. Our plans for reindustrialization of the region are connected with implementation of investment projects. A good example is revival of the machine-tool industry in the Ulyanovsk region. Today DMG MORI is planning to open a park of suppliers near the enterprise. The Ulyanovsk region is ready to expand its group of suppliers and to look for consumers both at the All-Russian and international levels. Together with partners from Germany we are ready to develop similar projects in other industries, which are traditional for our region, – Sergey Morozov noted. – Today the main driver of economic growth is technological innovations and establishment of smart industries. That is why the key idea of regional development is creation of new competences within the Technology Valley project. The project is designed by an extensive network of R&D centers in the field of aircraft and automotive industries, wind-power engineering and telecommunications. We consider this system of smart subdivisions as the base for creation of a new economy and development of technology entrepreneurship. Our last initiative is connected with establishment of creative industries in the region, in particular, with creation of an animation technology park. A number of companies including Soyuzmultfilm, the leader of national animation, have already confirmed that they want to come to us as residents. The Ulyanovsk State University is developing a relevant educational framework”.

In addition, the Governor Sergey Morozov and Igor Ryabikov, Deputy Director of the Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation, held negotiations with a number of German companies during the SRG meeting. As a result, they agreed to cooperate in implementation of projects in machine-tool building, robotics, productions of automotive components and alternative power engineering.

There was also a meeting with Michael Harms, Executive Director of the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations. "We have known Mr. Harms for a long time, since he was the head of the Russian-German Foreign Trade Chamber and helped the Ulyanovsk region to develop  relations with German companies. Today following the results of the meeting, he confirmed his intention to visit our region in January-February 2019 to learn more about German businesses working in the Ulyanovsk region and to hold a round table discussion regarding cooperation between Russian and German companies", - Igor Ryabikov said. It is possible that during this visit investment agreements will be signed with companies that have reached preliminary agreements within the SRG meeting.
