Year of Invention and Innovations has started in Ulyanovsk region

The Governor Sergey Morozov announced this information at the meeting on 10 January.


“Over the last several decades, it is the first thematic year of this kind in Russia. We received the right to be the pilot territory to carry it out, so that late we could share this experience with the country's leaders at the All-Russian level”, - the head of the region said.

Sergey Morozov suggested carrying out this thematic year at the ceremony in June, during which the Ulyanovsk region received the Capital of Invention 2019 status. Having gained the greatest number of points according to all criteria, the region was recognized as the winner of the competition by the All-Russian Society of Inventors and Rationalizers.

The key purpose of the thematic year is to create conditions for inventors, innovators and companies that will help them implement their creative abilities effectively. They should create and introduce products and services to improve living standards the quality of life in the Ulyanovsk region. It is expected that the event will be attended by more than one thousand inventors and businesspeople, as well as about twenty thousand children and youth.

Sergey Morozov heard a presentation about project preparation by Vadim Pavlov, Director General of the Ulyanovsk Region Agency for Technological Development (ATD).

“The Year of Invention and Innovations has several important tasks. One of them is involvement of children and youth in this process. Thanks to the professional community, we expect to create strategic initiatives for development of national and regional markets of intellectual property. The portfolio of innovative projects will help us launch drivers for the new regional model of economic development based on innovations”, - Vadim Pavlov said.

The project will solve three key tasks. The first one is creating and promoting a modern image of the inventor that who can converge with the new technological paradigm. The second one includes meetings at the APR platform for international cooperation in development of technologies. The service that will help to create jobs in the regional economy for people active in the digital sphere will become a unique and very important part of this aggregator.

The third task is to develop an innovative infrastructure for inventive activities. Children's technology park "Kvantorium", centers for youth innovative creativity and the STEAM cluster (a system of science and technology creativity) will become platforms for introduction of new education techniques. Economic agglomeration "Technology Valley", the renewable energy cluster and the innovative cluster will create conditions that will promote inventive products. At the same time, it is planned to start construction of Tekhnokampus 2.0, a unique facility that will become the core of the regional technological economy.

The thematic year will include more than 200 events of various formats and scales, which will promote favorable environment for development of inventions and innovations.

Regional and All-Russian competitions, training courses, festivals, and seminars have already started in the region since 9 January. ARWE International Forum on Renewable Energy will take place in Ulyanovsk from 22 to 24 May. The programme will also include the regional stage of the competition "Award of the All-Russian Society of Inventors and Rationalizers", the Day of Inventor in the Ulyanovsk region, and the Youth Innovative Forum "MIF-2019". A column of modern cars including self-driving ones will pass through all districts in the region during the motor race "Vremya izobretatelya".  A series of competitions in the field of scientific, technological and innovative creativity of children and youth will also take place during the event.

It is planned to open a center of intellectual property and a center of unmanned systems.

The National Forum "Izobretateli Rossii" (Inventors of Russia), the main event that has no analogs in Russia, is planned to take place in October. It aims to create mechanisms to involve technically active enthusiasts, inventors, communities and businesses in accelerated technological development of the country.
