Ulyanovsk cluster of composite materials to receive new participants
Regional Government, Development Corporation, AO "PSEZ "Ulyanovsk" and AO "STEKLONiT" signed an agreement on implementation of the investment project for construction of a plant. The event took place at the Russian investment forum in Sochi on 14 February.
“Over the last three years, one of the main priorities for us was creating hi-tech clusters. The concept of such association in the sphere of renewable energy sources has several components. These include building wind farms and introducing the power engineering industry, which first participant was Vestas. This stage also involves opening relevant departments in educational institutions to train personnel. STEKLONiT, a company that manufactures composite products, came to our region and can serve as an example of great work done by the Ulyanovsk region's Government and Development Corporation to establish this cluster”, – Sergey Morozov noted.
According to Sergey Vasin, CEO of the Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation, implementation of the project for construction of a wind farm in the Ulyanovsk region helped to attract Vestas, a manufacturer of power engineering equipment. This, in turn, brings companies that focus on production of components for it. “We are creating conditions to attract manufacturers of finished goods and raw composite materials for similar enterprises”, – he reported.
STEKLONIT is a Russian enterprise and part of RUSKOMPOZIT Group of Companies. It is going to place its production in Platforma industrial park in the Port Special Economic Zone. The company will manufacture use polymeric composite materials to manufacture large-size products for alternative power engineering, shipbuilding, mechanical engineering and housing and public utilities.
After becoming the resident of the special economic zone, the company is planning to start shipping and installing manufacturing equipment. A unique five-axial processing center with SAHOS Dynamic CNC will be placed at the production site in the Ulyanovsk region. It is used to make models from various materials with minimum handwork. Modular design of the machine allows to equip it for specific objectives and various types of production.
“The Ulyanovsk region is one of the most investment-attractive places today. We can work and create new products with ease thanks to the special environment for business. There are good tax privileges: profit tax of 2% and zero value-added land, property and transport tax rate. We will be placed in the free customs zone, which is of paramount importance to the company purchasing binding components from abroad (they are not manufactured in Russia). We are planning to have put this platform into operation by summer 2019”, – said Sergey Fakhretdinov, Chairman of the Board of RUSKOMPOZIT Group of Companies.
In addition, during the forum Sergey Morozov signed an investment agreement with a major Russian company, a manufacturer of composite materials for industrial and civil construction, power engineering and road construction. The investor also selected the platform in the Port Special Economic Zone.
The total investment into these two projects will make 470 million rubles, and about 370 new jobs will be created for inhabitants of the region.
