Preliminaries for VII “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) National Competition Final to be held in the Ulyanovsk region

The competition is to take place at the aviation college (Interregional Center of Competences) from 26 March to 23 April. By order of the Governor Sergey Morozov, the region has been part of the WorldSkillsRussia movement since 2013.

In his Address to the Federal Assembly of 20 February Vladimir Putin mentioned how important training of highly qualified personnel is.

“We need experts who can work at innovative productions, create and use breakthrough technologies. That is why we need to ensure widespread introduction of updated training programmes at all levels of professional education, as well as to organize training for the newest industries”, - said the head of state.

The President of Russia also reminded everyone about the forthcoming WorldSkills World Cup, which will take place in Russia in August. Vladimir Putin noted that it is necessary to accelerate modernization of secondary professional education and to provide more than two thousand workshops in colleges and technical schools with the latest equipment by 2022.

By order of the Governor Sergey Morozov, the region has been upgrading institutions of secondary vocational education since 2018.

“The same as last year, in 2019 we are going to use about 60 million rubles to improve infrastructure of secondary professional education. In addition, just recently our initiatives have been approved at the meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture. We suggest creating conditions for doing sport and improving infrastructure of dormitories in secondary specialized educational institutions”, - said the head of the region.

Preliminaries for VII “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) National Competition Final among territorial subjects of the Russian Federation will include five competences: Maintenance of Aviation Equipment, Maintenance of Commercial Vehicles, Car Painting, Repair and Maintenance of Cars, and Body Repair.

“This year more than 100 people will take part in the competitions. All competitions will be organized at the Interregional Center of Competences, which has been repeatedly recognized as one of the best modern venues for training of blue-collar workers. I would like to remind that these preliminaries will also take place in other regions of the country; this year our national team will participate in 21 competences”, - said Natalya Semyonova, Minister of Education and Science of the Ulyanovsk region.
