Several agreements to be signed during the Day of the German Economy in the Ulyanovsk region
Michael Harms, Executive Director of the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, visited the region on 1 March.
Earlier the Governor of the Ulyanovsk region Sergey Morozov came forward with an initiative to carry out the Day of German Economy in the Ulyanovsk region. It will help to realize investment potential of the region and to develop economic relations with Germany.
It is planned that the Governor Sergey Morozov will sign several agreements including the ones on localization of new German productions in the region, which will create several dozen new highly paid jobs. On 1 March, Michael Harms together with the delegation of German companies' representatives will visit enterprises of Schaeffler Manufacturing RUS and DMG MORI, as well as a laboratory and office building of OOO "Ulyanovsk Technology Transfer Center" (Nanocenter). They will also take part in the round tables discussions regarding German business in the Ulyanovsk region.
“Michael Harms was happy to accepted Sergey Morozov's invitation last December. He will pay a business visit to Ulyanovsk during which he will learn more about the economic and investment potential of the Ulyanovsk region, as well as the region's business environment. Michael Harms expressed specific interest in our region because German companies have invested more than 300 million euros in its economy over the recent years; at the same time, over two thousand jobs have been created. Ulyanovsk residents and, first of all, young people will be able to study activities of German enterprises and opportunities for self-realization in the region”, - commented Ekaterina Smoroda, Minister for Development of International and Interregional Relations of the Ulyanovsk Region.
Ulyanovsk residents can also take part in the Day of German Economy. There will be career - guidance programmes and open days at German enterprises for senior high school student and the ones from institutions of secondary vocational education. Ulyanovsk universities will have special lessons about German culture and cooperation.
According to Sergey Vasin, CEO of the Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation, many German companies have implemented their investment projects in the region. These include enterprises of DMG MORI, Schaeffler, Jokey Plastik, Henkel, Quarzwerke, and Fresenius Medical Care.
