Czech company to take part in revival of machine tool industry in Ulyanovsk region

During the working visit to the Czech Republic, which took place on 6 March, the Governor Sergey Morozov reached an agreement with the management of ALTA Group of Companies regarding modernization of the production site at the machine-tool factory.

“Today we have reached an agreement with ALTA management. One of our spheres of activities will be the machine-tool industry and we will be working on reconstruction of the platform at the Ulyanovsk Heavy and Unique Machine Tools Plant. The machine-tool industry is one of the key spheres for our region where we have developed great competence. It is important to keep and improve it. DMG MORI, a Japanese-German company, has been working in the region since 2015. Its plant has become the first machine-tool production opened in the former Soviet Union over the last 25 years. There are also other successful enterprises, both Russian and foreign ones. The new Czech company will help to continue development of this industry and Ulyanovsk Heavy and Unique Machine Tools Plant's platform”, – Sergey Morozov noted.

The Czech company represented by OOO "ALTA-RUS" will upgrade the production site of Simbirsk Machine Tool Factory. It is planned to start modernization of production capacities this year. The project also includes transfer of technologies for repair and maintenance of European-manufactured machines.

“The project is so interesting because we will improve accumulated expertise in the machine-tool sector with modern European technologies. In the nearest future, we are planning to sign an investment agreement with the company. We expect that it will take place at the International specialized exhibition "Metalloobrabotka" in Moscow this May”, - said Sergey Vasin, CEO of Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation.

Now Soviet-made machines are under repair and maintenance at the Ulyanovsk Machine Tool Plant. The plant needs fifty employees with a technical focus. The new project will ensure full utilization of the enterprise; there will be well-paid jobs and, in the long term, the number of employees can be increased up to 300 people.

OOO "ALTA-RUS" was founded by ALTA Group (Czech Republic) in 2010. Russian offices of the company can be found in Yekaterinburg, Moscow and St. Petersburg. ALTA Invest, a.s.
