Ulyanovsk region's experience in development of women’s entrepreneurship called the best

UNIDO Goodwill Ambassador Veronika Peshkova announced this assessment during the Third Business Women Forum, which took place in the region on 14-15 March.

“Ulyanovsk region is one of the Russian leaders in development of women's business. Today the exhibition has showed us many graduates of the project "Mama-predprinimatel"; the region is one of the best as far as its implementation is concerned. Here people understand how important it is to develop women's business, and Sergey Morozov was one of the first who set this task for federal platforms. We have noticed that if women were involved in economy in the same way as men, then GDP would receive additional 28 trillion dollars, which is equivalent to resources of both the USA and China's economies. In addition, women's startups usually attract less investments, but achieve higher profit level”, - Veronika Peshkova noted.

“We have created a single infrastructure for support of women's business in the region. Firstly, as the President has mentioned several times, it is important for us to involve economically active population in business activities. Following the results of all educational projects, which are available in the region today, we can see the result: 2-3% of businesses are launched right after the training, 8% - within the next six months, and up to 12% - in a year. I want to emphasize that we will support and continue developing this sphere. Secondly, we have a system of communication not only for businesswomen, but also for women who would like to become ones. Such networking is good for both internal development and faster implementation of business ideas and joint projects. That is why informal communication within public associations "Opora Rossii", "Zhenshchiny biznesa" and "Soyuz Zhenshchin Rossii", as well as forums and exhibition venues, are so significant. Implementation of programmes for acceleration and easy start is also of great importance for development of women's business”, - Sergey Morozov mention in his speech at the forum's plenary session.

Academy of Women's Business, a social and educational project, is to begin in the Ulyanovsk region in March. It will work with the population of all municipal entities in the region. The project's objectives are to involve more women in economic processes and to provide participants with tools for further development of their business projects, which includes measures of state support.

According to Ruslan Gaynetdinov, Chairman of the Board of the Ulyanovsk Region Corporation for Enterprise Development, the project will give women a chance to realize their potential, to combine business activities and family duties, and to earn money.

“It is very important to show women new niches to open and develop their business with the use of modern sales promotion methods. The expanded use of cyberspace will help to overcome the territory's remoteness factor. Many success stories are connected with development of business through online sales. Within the project, 160 events will take place in municipal entities in the region (in addition to Ulyanovsk and Dimitrovgrad); more than 1000 women will participate in them”, - said the Head of the Corporation.

This spring, the project "Mama-predprinimatel" will be implemented in the region for the sixth time. Young mothers and women who are on a maternity leave with one and more children can learn basics of entrepreneurship and business planning, acquire valuable skills and receive advice from professionals.

In 2017, more than 500 women were involved in various projects for development of women's business in the region; in 2018, this number increased up to 1500 women.
