IX Volga Region Ecological Week to take place in Ulyanovsk region
The state report regarding environmental condition in the region in 2018 is to be submitted during the plenary session. Expert platforms for discussion of relevant topics will be opened on 13 May.
“Representatives of environmental agencies and public organizations from the whole Volga region will gather together in the Ulyanovsk region to discuss vital environmental issues for the ninth time. The main subjects of the Ecoweek will include creation of forest-park green belts, development of a system of protected areas, and environmental volunteering”, - noted Dmitry Fyodorov, Minister of Nature and Cyclic Ecology of the region.
On 13 May, the Ecoweek will open with planting forestry crops in the territory of municipal units. On the same day, it is planned to carry out a roundtable discussion concerning creation of forest-park green belts and organization of lessons on habitat-forming functions of woods and preservation of forest plantings with participation of school forestry unit; there will also be open excursions to the Forest Museum in Staraya Mayna.
14 May will focus on special protected natural areas of the region. Excursions to these places located in Ulyanovsk and municipal units will be carried out, as well as a roundtable discussion concerning development of the regional Special Protected Natural Areas system.
"Den Ekolyat-Doshkolyat" will take place on 15 May. Workshops and seminars on promotion of separate waste collection and introduction of the zero-waste system will be organized in higher education institutions of the Ulyanovsk region.
The Ecology Day will be held in municipal units on 16 May. There will be meetings of ecological councils and thematic events.
Days of the Clean Volga, which are traditional for the region, are planned to take place on 17 May. The plenary session of the Ecoweek will be held on the same day. It will take place in the Ulyanovsk nanotechnology center (8, 44th Inzhenerny Drive). It will be attended by representatives of the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (Germany), Alexander Ornatsky (Head of the Volga Federal District Forestry Department), Oleg Kruchinin (Head of the Department of the Federal Service for Management Supervision of the Volga Federal District), and representatives of the neighboring regions. The state report regarding environmental condition in the region in 2018 will be presented during the plenary session. This document will be used for the Ecological Message of Governor Sergey Morozov.
