ARWE 2019 International Forum on Renewable Energy attended by over one thousand people

The event was followed by the Youth Day on 24 May. Within its framework Governor Sergey Morozov and Martin Hinul, Director of the Research Center at the Catholic University of Leuven, held a meeting with students and schoolchildren.

“We have a unique opportunity to catch a glimpse of the future. I know that all of us will live in the environmentally friendly region, you will be accompanied by a lot of technological machines, your life will be much faster”, - Sergey Morozov said.

Martin Hinul, who is a famous scientist and the author of numerous books on business technologies, held a public lecture for Ulyanovsk youth about successful experience of the technological cluster. He also answered students' questions.

“This is not my first time in Ulyanovsk. Today the future belongs to knowledge. We need a breakthrough economy, which is developed through the market. I will tell you right away that you will not work in Russia, Europe or the USA as countries; you will work in a sector-specific single-purpose region. Similar task has been also set for Ulyanovsk. And even though this goal is difficult, I am sure that you can achieve it”, - Martin Hinul noted.

About 300 schoolchildren and students were able to take part in ARWE 2019 on the Youth Day. There was a live broadcast on the official website ( for people who could not attended the event personally.

On the final day of the forum (24 May), experts discussed development of electric vehicles and establishment of the Research and Educational Center (REC) on renewable energy within the national project "Nauka" (Science).

"We think that the Ulyanovsk region should focus on the renewable energy sector, so we are developing a full-cycle industry based on this concept: from training of specialists and scientific research to world-class industrial production. Our advantages include the unique geographical location, successful experience of the first wind farm, investment and academic potential – we must use them in the interests of the whole country. That is why we have decided to create a center of science and education within the alternative power engineering cluster. This is a step to development of an adequate renewable energy research and development sector, which will be a platform for joint projects with local and foreign scientific centers. Our region will be able to introduce major technologies, methods and projects on green energy, including the ones within the National Technology Initiative", - Sergey Morozov emphasized.

The main program had 18 events in different formats such as a plenary session, panel sessions, lectures, and industry-related meetings.

About 60 B2B-meetings took place during ARWE 2019 within the Suppliers Forum; five cooperation agreements were signed.
