Ulyanovsk region strengthens cooperation with Vietnam
An official delegation from Vietnam visited the region on 23-25 May.
Governor Sergey Morozov met with Thai Thanh Quy, Chairman of the People's Council of Nge Ahn Province, and Ngo Phuong Nghi, Consul General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Yekaterinburg. They discussed future cooperation in agriculture, health care, culture and education, as well as possible investment projects.
“We see mutual investments, trade and economic relations, cultural exchanges, and development of public relations as the top priorities for cooperation development. February 2019 marks twelve years since signing of the cooperation agreement between the Ulyanovsk region and regions of the Nge Ahn Province. However, we have had our friendly relations for more than 30 years. Many amazing joint projects have been implemented over this period”, - Sergey Morozov noted.
We would like to remind that President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev met Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in Moscow on 22 May. They announced that cross years of friendship between two countries will be carried out in 2019 and 2020.
Currently the Ulyanovsk region and Vietnam are implementing a number of joint projects.
Lenin Memorial and Ho Chi Minh Museum (located in Hanoi) have cooperated since 2012. Dozens of joint scientific conferences and exhibitions have been organized, text and recourse books have been published.
Higher education institutions of the region have developed contacts with Vietnam National University (Hanoi) and University of Labor and Social Affairs in Ho Chi Minh City; they carry out cultural and educational exchanges. Ulyanovsk High School No. 76 named after Ho Chi Minh has a museum of this prominent politician. It is planned to introduce Vietnamese classes in the future, as well as organize exchange programmes for schoolchildren.
“Government of the Ulyanovsk region greatly helped us with creation and installation of Ho Chi Minh's monument in 2017. Today we have visited his museum at the Ulyanovsk school. We are sincerely grateful for your interest in the history of our country. We also came to foreign enterprises, which are successfully working in the region; both of us were impressed by these favorable conditions for investors. In my opinion, professional exchanges in the field of health care and education are the promising spheres for future cooperation between our regions”, – Thai Thanh Quy emphasized.
Russia-Vietnam Youth Forum, which is attended by schoolchildren and students from the Nge Ahn Province, is currently taking place in the region.
“I have visited many Russian regions, but only Ulyanovsk government gives so much attention to development of international and interregional relations. The Ulyanovsk region provides subsidies for investors, which, in turn, creates favorable conditions to stimulate foreign capital inflow. We also know that the Government of the Russian Federation has introduced quotas for foreign students to receive education in Russian universities; we would like to have a share of these quotas to send Vietnamese students to Ulyanovsk universities”, – Ngo Phuong Nghi emphasized.
During the meeting, the parties decided to expand and renew the agreement between the regional Government and the People's Council of the Nge Ahn Province for cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural spheres. Governor Sergey Morozov suggested that the programme of joint events within years of friendship should include the Day of Nge Ahn Province in Ulyanovsk region, Ulyanovsk - Vietnam Business Forum and opening of Vladimir Lenin's monument in Vinh.
