Ulyanovsk wind farm to become a venue for the semi-marathon "Bystree vetra"

The sports event will take place on 25 August.


Fortum Corporation is the organizer of the semi-marathon. The competition will take place with assistance of the Ministry of Physical Education and Sport of Ulyanovsk Region.

“The semi-marathon's route will pass around the wind farm and will become a real running tour of the unique industrial facility. This year there will be three courses: 21.1 km, 10 km, and 5 km. Each of them has its own features of different complexity. The athletes who will chose 5 km and 10 km courses will run around the northern wind-driven generators, – noted Nikolay Tsukanov, Minister of Physical Education and Sport of Ulyanovsk Region. – We are grateful to Fortum for the initiative, which will promote development of physical education. I am sure that the semi-marathon "Bystree vetra" (Faster than the Wind) will become a real holiday for lovers of running in our region.”

Anyone over the age of 18 can take part in the race. Participation in the competition is free of charge. One can receive the starting package on day of the semi-marathon. You can register at newrunners.ru.

We want our wind farms, which will be a background for the semi-marathon, to become not only a geographical reference point, but also a symbol of the efficient use of energy and resources”, – emphasized Sergey Chizhov, First Deputy Director General of PAO "Fortum".
