Ulyanovsk State University becomes one of leaders in Russia

Thanks to the development programmes introduced in 2018, the university will receive state support within implementation of the national project "Education".


The results were summed up at a meeting of the Council for Implementation of Basic University Development Programmes, which are of paramount importance for industrial, social and economic development of subjects of the Russian Federation. It took place on 30 July and was chaired by Marina Borovskaya, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

The council decided to create three groups for these universities based on an assessment of their potential. The criteria included changes in key performance indicators, quantitative values of the basic university's key performance indicators, and expert assessment of development programme implementation.

Ulyanovsk State University is in the second group of leaders among basic universities. Governor Sergey Morozov is the head of the Coordination Council for implementation of its development programme.

“ULSU received the status of a basic higher education establishment in 2017 and together with enterprises regularly addresses challenges of the regional economy in implementation of educational and innovative projects. The university continues to hold the leading positions and holds its rightful place in All-Russian and international ratings. For example, in June Ulyanovsk State University was included into TOP 100 of the National Rating”, - said Natalya Semyonova, Minister of Education and Science of the Ulyanovsk Region.

The decision concerning allocation of funds is one of the reference points in implementation of the national project "Education". Three groups of universities will receive state support according to their ranking. Subsidies will be provided by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
