Representative of Ulyanovsk Region Pavel Yakovlev to Be Part of National Team at WorldSkills Kazan-2019

The event will take place from 22 to 27 August in Kazan. It is expected that about 1.3 thousand young people from 63 countries will participate in competitions.

“The fact that a native of Ulyanovsk will represent the region in the world championship is a great success. We were able to achieve such results because by the decision of Governor Sergei Morozov a lot of resources from the regional treasury were used to upgrade colleges and technical schools over the last years. This has improved the quality of training for students and the image of working professions. I would like to remind you that this is the aim of the federal project "Young Professionals" within the national project "Education." For example, last year we used 60 million rubles to upgrade eight educational establishment. This year we will have the same funds. In addition, we expect to receive co-financing from the federal budget in 2020. It is planned to re-equip about 50 workshops until 2024; first of all, the ones for professions and specialties that are already taught in our educational establishments,” - explained Natalia Semyonova, Minister of Education and Science of the Ulyanovsk region.

The national team for WorldSkills Russia includes 14 young women and 49 young men between the ages of 18 and 25. Pavel Yakovlev, a student from Ulyanovsk Aviation College - the Interregional Competence Center, will represent the Ulyanovsk region at the championship.

“Earlier I was as part of the national team of the Sverdlovsk region, but I hardly received any support there; the Ulyanovsk region, on the other hand, offered really good conditions. For one thing, I needed financial assistance. Now I am a member of the Interregional Competence Center. It is a good base for training, so I hope to show excellent results during the competition”, - Pavel Yakovlev said.

In Kazan, the contestants will demonstrate their skills in 56 spheres from the main WorldSkills International list in the field of services, transport and logistics, industrial production, information technologies, art and design, and construction. Over four days, the national team will have to complete tasks created by the international expert community and leading companies of the industry.

According to Natalia Kitayeva, Director of the Interregional Competence Center, currently Pavel Yakovlev is training at the ICC that has all conditions required for tasks of the international championship.

“One should train for a long time before such competitions - it can take several years. A participant of the international championship must take part in various professional competitions. For example, Pavel has participated in many corporate championships. He has been in Germany and Denmark, and thanks to this, he was able to become a member of the national team. In addition, we have a few more very promising young people in the college. For example, Alexander Nazemcev who is training for the competence "Automobile Technology". He has been in China recently to take part in the championship. Now he is the first candidate to participate in EuroSkills 2020 in Austria,” - Natalia Kitayeva added.
