Sergey Morozov to Present Potential of Ulyanovsk Region in Renewable Energy in Germany

The Governor will address the panel session during HUSUM WIND 2019, an international wind power industry trade fair. The head of the region and heads of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Hamburg and Cottbus are going to discuss further development of the wind industry in the Ulyanovsk region. In addition, the delegation will negotiate with companies that are part of the Danish Wind Industry Association.

Ulyanovsk region's delegation held negotiations on Monday with one of the leading German companies that manufactures automotive components. They discussed localization of a plant in the Ulyanovsk region.

A meeting with heads of the Russian-German Economic Union is scheduled for 10 September. The Governor of the Ulyanovsk region and Torsten Sevecke, State Secretary of the Ministry for Economy, Transport, and Innovation of Hamburg, will discuss development of interregional interactions, cooperation in the industry and transport, and business and cultural tourism.

“Representatives of German companies visited the region just a week and a half ago. We introduced them to the economic and investment potential of the region and exchanged our best practices in the field of civil aviation. Germany is, without exaggeration, one of the main partners for us. Today the Federal Republic takes the leading position among all European states on direct investment in the Ulyanovsk region's economy; its total volume exceeds 300 million euros,” - Sergey Morozov said.

Expansion of the cooperation with German partners, in particular, in the field of renewable energy will be discussed during the “Russia, a new market for wind power industry” session. The main topics of HUSUM WIND 2019 will include advanced technologies in energetics, potential of the Russian market, and special features of the project support mechanism. The head of the region will present experience of the Ulyanovsk region in development and introduction of renewable energy sources.

“Four years ago the Ulyanovsk region was the first in Russia to change federal legislation regulating the wind industry. Two industrial wind farms have been built in the region within the renewable energy support programme. These wind farms include 28 wind power plants with the total capacity of 85 MW. That is why we are so interested in German experience,” - commented Ekaterina Smoroda, Minister for Development of International and Interregional Relations of the Ulyanovsk Region.
