Relevant Issues of Martial Arts Development Discussed by TAFISA Board of Directors in Ulyanovsk Region
The event was organized for the first time in Russia. It was attended by representatives of Greece, Iran, the United States, Germany, Botswana, Korea, Japan, and Tanzania. Governor of the Ulyanovsk region Sergey Morozov also made a speech at the event.
Participants of the Board of the Association For International Sport for All discussed strategic development of the organization, as well as organization of the 1st TAFISA World Martial Arts Festival.
“Two years ago we met in Kazan when Governor Sergey Morozov came there to present a project of the first martial arts festival. Thanks to his amazing efforts, the world festival is taking place in Ulyanovsk these days. Let me express my sincere gratitude for such success of the TAFISA world martial arts festival,” - noted Ju-Ho Chang, President of the Association for International Sport for All (TAFISA).
Ulyanovsk received the right to hold the World Games in 2017. 70 foreign cities apply for this mission. Governor Sergey Morozov and Ju-Ho Chang, President of the Association for International Sport for All, signed an agreement on organizing the festival.
“I would like to thank Ju-Ho Chang, President of TAFISA, for the privilege of hosting the 1st World Martial Arts Festival. We have wanted to befriend this wonderful organization for a long time, so we have passed specific tests and carried out a number of major international competitions. We are glad to cooperate with this international organization and are ready to hold TAFISA World Martial Arts Festival at the highest possible level. I hope it will become a bright and memorable event,” - the head of the region emphasized.
About three thousand athletes from almost 20 countries participated in the 1st TAFISA World Martial Arts Festival. The list of guests included Oleg Taktarov (an actor and a practitioner of sambo), Grigory Drozd (Honored Master of Sports in Thai boxing, world champion); Dmitry Nosov (Honored Master of Sports in Judo, Master of Sports in Sambo, bronze medalist of the Games of the XXVIII Olympic Games in Athens, founder of the school of martial arts - AntiDiler); Ilia Jorga (founder of Fudokan karate style (Serbia)), Wakayama Masashi (founder and honorary president of the Kobudo International School (Japan)), Roman Anashkin (President of Russian Kudo Federation), Artem Vakhitov (Russian, European and World Champion in Thai Boxing), Denis Goltsov and Eugene Isayev (World Champions in Sambo), and others.
The festival's professional programme included 12 types of martial arts: boxing, kickboxing, Thai boxing, sambo, pankration, fudokan karate, kyokushin karate, jiu-jitsu, kyudo, aikido, kudo, and kuresh. Master classes and seminars on these sports were organized with participation of famous athletes, World and European champions, as well as heads of All-Russian federations. These events took place at sports grounds in Ulyanovsk and Dimitrovgrad.
