Ulyanovsk Region to Continue Development of Charging Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles with Support of a World-Class Company

The Government of the Ulyanovsk Region and Limited Liability Company «ABB» concluded the cooperation agreement on 15 January. The document was signed when Ulyanovsk delegation took part in XI Gaidar Forum "Russia and the World: Challenges of the New Decade" in Moscow.

Governor Sergey Morozov said, "Ulyanovsk region is actively working to develop eco-transport; we have removed the transport tax for owners of electric vehicles. Our next task will be to create charging stations not only in the city, but also in the region. Our collaboration with ABB, the global leader in production of charging stations for electric vehicles, will bring real benefits for fans of this transport. Their accumulated experience will help the region to introduce really important solutions, which, in turn, will promote development of environmentally friendly transport."

As part of the agreement, ABB will assist the region in application of advanced charging infrastructure solutions for innovative electric transport in the Ulyanovsk region.

In addition, the parties agreed to work on projects designed to promote digitalization, automation and progressive solutions in electrification, as well as programmes connected with other types of eco-transport. The cooperation will focus on organization of educational seminars about these topics.

“For more than five years Ulyanovsk region has been one of the top ten federal subjects of Russia in such rating indicators as the regulatory climate for investments, the level of small business development, and the efficiency of business institutions. These indicators and not resources are most important for success implementation of all advanced and innovative solutions. We are sure that cooperation with the Ulyanovsk region will be very successful for introduction of innovative solutions in the field of eco-transport. The region might be the first to apply some other developments of ABB, but these areas will be revealed later,”- said Alexandr Prudkov, Head of the Electrification Division at ABB.

Last November, Sergey Morozov signed a road map that includes a number of measures to promote the use of green transport and to create all necessary infrastructure for 2019-2024.
