Ulyanovsk Region to Complete Construction of Two Major Sports Facilities in 2020

The work is carried out under Sergey Morozov's special control. Construction takes place within the project "Sport is the Standard of Living" of the Demography national project initiated by President Vladimir Putin.

“We continue developing sports infrastructure not only in municipalities, but also in the regional center. Several facilities, which construction is monitored by us, are being built in Ulyanovsk now. The Gymnastics Centre in Zasviyazhsky District should open in the beginning of 2021; the Ice Palace in Zheleznodorozhny District will be completed this summer,” - the Governor noted.

According to Konstantin Aleksich, Director of OGKU "Ulyanovskoblstroyzakazchik", construction of the Gymnastics Centre is to be finished in December 2020. He noted, “Complex assembly work has already been carried out; now we have started installation of internal systems for water supply, sewerage, power facilities, electric lighting, ventilation, security, and fire alarm. This large building will have everything necessary for interregional competitions - a performance hall with bleachers, a choreography hall, practice rooms, a hotel for 20 guests, as well as rooms for coaches, showers and locker rooms.”

In the summer of 2020, a new modern sport facility with artificial ice will be built in Zheleznodorozhny District, Ulyanovsk. We have completed reinforced concrete framing and are currently working to finish perimeter of the building. The indoor ice arena with bleachers for 290 seats and choreography and practice halls will develop figure skating in the region. The new ice complex will also become a training ground for hockey teams and will be a place for mass figure skating. Construction of this facility is carried out within the public-private partnership programme.

Sergey Morozov visited the sports complex "Olymp" in Zavolzhsky District. During the meeting, the head of the region instructed to develop a roadmap for the sports complex that will involve relevant federations and associations working in this institution, as well as deputies and the public.

The head of the region also discussed development of street workouts with deputies and representatives of the sports community. According to experts of the regional Ministry of Fitness and Sports, 30 million rubles will be used for implementation of the project on development of comfortable sports environment in the regional center in 2020. The funds will be used for installation of sports grounds. The list with places for new facilities will be prepared considering development of neighborhoods and their residents' needs.
