Ulyanovsk Region Begins Week of International Cooperation and Export National Project
On 27 January, Governor Sergey Morozov visited Ulyanovsk enterprises that successfully export their goods abroad.
Sergey Morozov noted, “Export development is a sign of the stable and growing economy; this also involves prosperous enterprises expanding their markets and creating new jobs. Ulyanovsk goods are the business card of our region at the international market. I am glad to see that export is constantly developing. After the first ten months of 2019, its volume totaled more than US$669 million; the indicator has increased by 15% compared to the same period last year. Over the last five years, the export has doubled, and over the last 15 years it grew by more than 4.5 times.”
According to Ruslan Gainetdinov, Chairman of the Board of Ulyanovsk Region Entrepreneurship Development Corporation, 140 businesspeople exported their products to 97 countries of the world in 2019; eight of them started these activities for the first time. The main trading partners during this period were far-abroad countries. Their share in sales turnover made 90.0%.
This year, the major export destinations included Egypt, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Germany, the United States, and Azerbaijan. Ulyanovsk manufacturers export cars and their components, radiopharmaceutical agents, furniture, processed wood products, electronic devices, fuel, and other goods.
Thanks to the export hub, which started working in Prague in 2019, now Ulyanovsk enterprises have the opportunity to sell a variety of products in the territory of the European Union, which significantly improves their competitiveness. With the support of the hub, local manufacturers have already participated in three international European exhibitions in the territory of the European Union. The companies of the region held more than 100 B2B meetings. Negotiations are under way with five representatives of European distribution companies regarding the supply of goods made by Ulyanovsk manufacturers to promote products at EU markets. According to the relevant agency, a contract for the supply of sealing foam to Latvia worth 1,100,000 euros was signed within one of such negotiations.
Within the week dedicated to implementation of the International Cooperation and Export national project in the region, the municipalities will organize meetings with businesses, thematic workshops for entrepreneurs, and visits to production facilities.
