Isuzu Plant in Ulyanovsk Releases 35,000th Truck
The anniversary Isuzu Forward 12.0 AirSuspension vehicle was transferred to the client as part of the official ceremony on 3 July.
The ceremony was attended by Alexander Smekalin (Chairman of the Ulyanovsk Region Government), Fabrice Gorlier (Director General of Isuzu Rus), Dmitry Bakuev (Executive Director at Ulyanovsk mineral water factory “Volzhanka” of Slavyanka Group of Companies) and employees of the local Isuzu Rus plant.
Alexander Smekalin emphasized, “The Isuzu Rus project in Ulyanovsk involves 400 million rubles of investment into the region's economy, 250 new jobs and the production capacity of up to 5,000 units per year. This is a joint achievement of the company, a number of Ulyanovsk industrial enterprises, which supply materials and components, and our international and Russian partners, as well as educational establishments that train specialists for the automotive industry. The Isuzu project is an excellent opportunity for all of us to join the global technological and production chains. I am very happy that we fully utilize this chance and prove competitive position of the Ulyanovsk region as a reliable and long-term partner at the world market. Isuzu team is one of the components of the Ulyanovsk region's success as the leader of the domestic automotive industry.”
Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation supports implementation of the company's project. According to Sergey Vasin, Head of the Corporation, the plant is located in the industrial park of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant and can produce the entire range of trucks (from 3.5 to 33 tons). The company has established a continuous quality control of all processes - from evaluation of components to audit of finished chassis. The plant regularly goes through Isuzu Japan certification procedure to ensure that the quality of chassis produced in Russia meets international Isuzu standards. The design capacity of the facility is 5000 units a year.
“The 35,000th chassis made in Russia is an important milestone in the history of our plant in Ulyanovsk, which started in 2006. Over these years, the company has come a long way from a small assembly shop to one of the leading production facilities, which developed production of all models available at the Russian market. These include promising innovations such as gas-fueled and four-wheel drive vehicles, as well as the ones equipped with an automatic transmission. It is symbolic that the F-series chassis became the anniversary car, which this year celebrates 50 years since the start of its production. I would like to thank the Government of the Ulyanovsk Region and the Development Corporation for the extensive support they have been providing us since the very beginning. And all employees of the Isuzu Rus plant in Ulyanovsk deserve a special thanks for their daily work and commitment to the highest quality standards. Thanks to this, we can offer Isuzu, Japanese quality with a Russian soul, to all our customers in Russia,” - said Fabrice Gorlier.
Production of the first Forward chassis (F-series) started in 1970; modern vehicles of this model range are representatives of the sixth generation of Isuzu medium-tonnage trucks popular around the world. In May 2017, the company launched an assembly line of over-tonnage trucks with a mass range from 30 tons in Ulyanovsk.
