Ulyanovsk Company to Compete for Exporter of the Year Award
The business project for production of composite materials, which was submitted by the regional enterprise "Galen", is in the top ten winners of the district stage and will be presented at the final competition in Moscow.
The prize is traditionally awarded to successful companies and individual entrepreneurs working in non-resource non-energy exports. Companies from the Republic of Tatarstan, Perm Krai, Penza and Saratov regions came to the final along with the Ulyanovsk region. Igor Komarov, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District, personally congratulated winners of the district stage.
Igor Komarov said, “Development of export activities will be one of the important focus areas in the near future. President Vladimir Putin set an indicator required to achieve the national goal in creating conditions for successful entrepreneurship. Non-resource non-energy export has to increase by at least 70% by 2030. A lot is done at the federal and regional levels to improve support measures provided to export-oriented enterprises. Russian Export Center plays the main role in this sphere as a state-owned institute created to support non-commodity exports sector. The All-Russian competition "Exporter of the Year" is a tool to promote export activities, as evidenced by the increasing number of participants every year. They include companies from the Volga Federal District, which accounts to a significant share in Russia's non-resource non-energy exports.”
OOO "Galen" makes composite fittings. Today, the company supplies its products to North America, the European Union, Australia and the Middle East.
According to Svetlana Mironova, the company's Lead Manager for Foreign Trade, it was possible to achieve such volumes and results thanks to certification for compliance with the ASTM International standard.
She said, “Our company has been active on the market for about 20 years, and we have also been involved in export for quite some time. Our development was supported by the regional export support center. We actively cooperated to complete certification, to participate in international exhibitions and to receive compensation of export transport costs.”
According to Ruslan Gainetdinov, Chairman of the Board of Ulyanovsk Region Entrepreneurship Development Corporation, the region's export received additional opportunities for development thanks to implementation of the relevant national project.
He emphasized, “In 2019 alone, Ulyanovsk entrepreneurs supplied abroad a record amount of goods - worth more than one billion US dollars. Our region really has something to be proud of. Ulyanovsk furniture, automotive components, doors, composite materials, stone basins, decorative tiles and many others are in demand at the foreign market. Despite the pandemic, more than 160 regional companies are now selling their goods abroad, and this is only the beginning. At the initiative of Governor Sergey Morozov, particular attention is paid to economic development and export activities. Our exporters can receive both training and financial support, which together create a single platform for their growth.”
