Production Facilities of Ulyanovsk Region Increase Capacity to Help in Fight against COVID-19
During a meeting with members of the Government, President Vladimir Putin urged subjects of the Russian Federation to use solutions developed by the country's leading companies.
He emphasized, “To increase effectiveness of measures against coronavirus at all stages, it is necessary to use experience of our leading companies such as Rosatom, the Federal Center of Competences in Lean Manufacturing, as well as potential of the country's leading scientific and medical institutions.”
The Ulyanovsk region has already introduced elements of lean manufacturing at its production facilities within the national project "Labor Productivity and Employment Support".
Due to the pandemic, regional manufacturers quickly started producing goods necessary to combat the spread of this infection. Ulyanovsk Instrument Manufacturing Design Bureau, which is part of the Concern Radio-Electronic Technologies of the State Corporation Rostec, increased its output of air disinfection devices fourfold. Now the company makes about 1000 recirculators a month. Contracts have been signed for the supply of equipment nationwide. Ultraviolet bactericidal air cleaners kill up to 99% of malignant bacteria and viruses. Such devices are provided to healthcare institutions in Russian regions. The company also produces IV infusion devices, ultrasonic nebulizers and specialized hospital furniture.
Together with Ford Sollers Yelabuga and Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, Ulyanovsk Avtodom plant completed a programme of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation in 2020 and provided other regions with C-class ambulances. 653 vehicles based on the Ford Transit chassis and 132 cars with the UAZ Profi ones received medical equipment.
The country's government allocated 10 billion rubles to buy ambulances for 83 constituent entities of the Russian Federation; thanks to it, about 5,000 B- and C-class vehicles were purchased. According to Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, another 182 cars will be acquired in the future.
He added, “We are ready to provide 140 ambulances by the end of the year, and 600 more B- and C- class cars will be delivered in January.”
By order of Governor Sergey Morozov, companies of the Ulyanovsk region have looked into the possibility to establish production of individual protective gear. More than 80 enterprises are involved in this work.
“More than 100 thousand hygienic face masks are made per day. For example, thanks to the experience gained over the years, Boston factory was able to change its production facilities and started manufacturing medical and reusable face masks. At the same time, we have also organized production of protective suits and overshoes - 2,000 pieces a day,” - said Andrey Tyurin, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of Ulyanovsk Region.
