Hempel Has Invested Two Billion Rubles in Ulyanovsk Region

Governor Sergey Morozov congratulated staff on the fifth anniversary since the paint production facility was established in the region.

He said, “Ulyanovsk plant is the first Hempel enterprise in Russia. The company sets high requirements to its employees, and we are very pleased that local specialists fully comply with them. Hempel plant became a noticeable addition to our economy: as of today, two billion rubles have been invested in the region. Such production facilities are completely on a par with our development strategy; they closely cooperate with world-renowned leaders, use the latest technologies and attract major investments. Our interactions with Hempel are an excellent experience for innovative development of the Ulyanovsk region.”

The agreement on implementation of the project was signed in 2011 between the Government of the region, the administration of Ulyanovsk, the Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation and the Danish company. Construction of the plant was completed in Zavolzhye Industrial Park on 1 December, 2015.

Hempel plant is a full-cycle enterprise with the maximum automation of production processes. It also has the cutting-edge high-tech equipment. The facility uses the latest environmentally friendly production technologies that meet international standards. In addition to the main range of goods, which are popular all around the world, the plant manufactures a number of new products developed specifically for the unique Russian climate and market. Today, the company employs 69 residents of the region.

According to representatives of the company, the Danish investor took into account several parameters when choosing the location for this production facility. The main ones were convenient logistics, consumers interested in this type of goods, the proximity of suppliers, a favorable investment climate in the region and great talent pool.

“We are helping our youth develop here, in Ulyanovsk. If you compare features of the local plant and our other European enterprises, we have some of the best indicators in Russia. This was achieved largely due to highly qualified employees. And we have some of the best specialists in Europe in terms of training provided at the Ulyanovsk facility,” - said Tomasz Górski, Plant Manager at Hempel A/S.

According to Sergey Vasin, Director General of the Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation, the company is actively investing in development of the Ulyanovsk region's economy.

He explained, “The investor provided one billion rubles during construction of the plant and continues to support the project now. Over five years, the company has invested another one billion rubles in production and equipment. The Ulyanovsk enterprise also took part in major projects such as construction of the Olympic facilities in Sochi. Hempel's protective coating solutions were also used to build sports facilities for FIFA World Cup 2018 and their transport infrastructure.”
