Ulyanovsk Aviation Industrial Complex to Manufacture and Supply Ten Newest IL-78М-90А Tankers
The document was signed between the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and Aviastar-SP during the working visit of Alexey Krivoruchko (Deputy Minister of Defense) to the Ulyanovsk region.
“The plant starts systematic mass production. The company has orders from the Ministry of Defense for many years to come. Today, another state contract has been signed for the supply of ten Il-78M-90A aerial refueling tankers for the needs of the Ministry, which will further strengthen the financial and economic situation of the enterprise and create additional jobs in the Ulyanovsk region,” - said Alexey Krivoruchko.
The new aerial refueling tanker was created on the basis of Il-76MD-90A strategic airlifter and is equipped with four new-generation PS-90А-76 engines. The aircraft has an upgraded flight and navigation system, as well as a glass cabin that reduces the pressure on the crew and improves flight safety.
IL-78M-90A can simultaneously refuel two front-line aircraft, while its tail unit is used for long-range and special ones. In case of aircraft ground handling, IL-78M-90A can service four planes simultaneously.
During his visit to Aviastar-SP, Alexey Krivoruchko also monitored production of Il-76MD-90A aircraft. One prototype of this plane was made before, and currently it continues flight tests.
At the initiative of Governor Sergey Morozov, industrial enterprises of the Ulyanovsk region, which are implementing programmes to upgrade their production facilities and to train highly qualified personnel despite the coronavirus pandemic, were provided with subsidies in 2020. For example, Ulyanovsk Aviation Industrial Complex will receive 1.5 million rubles. The regional budget also includes special measures for support of the industrial sector in 2021.
