Enterprises of Ulyanovsk Region Ramp Up Production

Governor Sergey Morozov visited the production facility of Isuzu Rus JSC on 14 December. There he discussed the prospects for its development with Fabrice Gorlier, CEO at Isuzu Rus, and launched the decade of investment activities.

“The two coming weeks will focus on the reset of the investment cycle and its work in 2021. We must address employment issues, attract new skills to the region, create modern industries and increase labor productivity. We will visit a number of factories and hold meetings with the heads of our investment facilities, make a speech at the National Industrial Forum regarding the restart of investment activities, and carry out the final Investment Council at the end of the year. The decade begins with a visit to one of the most promising facilities - Isuzu Rus. We can see how it is developing its production standards, expanding working area and creating new jobs. This is a good example of how one should manage relations with partners, with authorities,” - the head of the region emphasized.

ISUZU RUS plant is located at the premises of Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant and can manufacture the entire range of popular ISUZU cargo chassis such as light- (N-series), medium- (F-series) and heavy-weight (GIGA series) ones. The plant continuously verifies the quality of all processes - from the appraisal of components to the audit of the finished chassis. The company regularly undergoes ISUZU Japan certification to ensure that the quality of chassis manufactured in Russia meets international ISUZU standards. ISUZU trucks are assembled with the use of both imported and locally made units and components. The company fully complies with the status of a domestic manufacturer's enterprise located in the Russian Federation.

“Of course, the difficult epidemiological situation affected work of the enterprise this year. However, thanks to the support of the Government of Ulyanovsk Region, we were able to adapt to the new conditions and set production processes with due regard to the necessary safety measures. The company is working in an accelerated regime now to meet the high demand for ISUZU products,” - said Boris Abashin, Deputy Director General for Production at ISUZU RUS.

According to Sergey Vasin, Director General of Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation, the company introduces the best Japanese practices to manage its production and all related processes. He said, “ISUZU RUS also actively cooperates with local manufacturers of components and raw materials such as the Ulyanovsk enterprise of Simaz; this has a synergistic effect on development of the regional economy.”

In accordance with the Decree of the Governor “On introduction of high alert regime and establishment of mandatory rules for citizens and organizations", more than 30% of the plant's employees were transferred to a remote working regime.

“The production sector has been particularly vulnerable to the pandemic because most of its employees are working directly at the production facilities. The region has approved a list of enterprises that are not subject to restrictions regarding remote work. These are contractors of the defense and aircraft industries, organizations that are part of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation and companies of the electrical and technical sector,” - explained Andrey Tyurin, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of Ulyanovsk Region.
