Undory Paleontological Museum to Open iSandBOX

The equipment for this interactive sandbox was purchased as part of the federal project "Digital Culture" of the Culture national project approved by President Vladimir Putin.

Evgenia Sidorova, Minister of Art and Cultural Policy of Ulyanovsk Region, said, "With the support of Governor Sergey Morozov, Undory Paleontological Museum has been actively introducing new modern digital technologies since 2020. It has a 3D Laboratory Behind the Glass ("3D laboratoriya za steklom"), which demonstrates the digital versions and models of animals; and you can create special models of minerals with the help of a 3D-printer. A hardware and software system "Dinosaur AR" demonstrates movements of Elasmosaurus Yuhu in a virtual format. In 2021, the museum will impress its visitors with the iSandBOX learning tool. It looks like a spacious area filled with sand. High brightness pictures are projected onto it creating a fully interactive world.

Employees are also developing individual excursions both around the museum and in the territory of the Undoriya Geopark. Such activities will be held with the use of audio and radio guides.”

The sandbox system costs about 378 thousand rubles. It is a modern and effective tool that brings the sand therapy and the educational process in general to a new level, as well as helps to reveal children's potential and natural abilities. Visitors can see picturesque landscapes thanks to the augmented reality system. More than a dozen training and game modes create a volcano or a lake; you can also simulate flooding and other natural processes, as well as see and play with virtual animals (including fossil ones).
