Ulyanovsk and Samara Regions to Cooperate in Investment Sector
The agreement was signed between regional development corporations and the Fund "Investment Promotion Agency of the Samara Region".
The areas of cooperation will include interregional activities, as well as implementation of joint investment projects.
“We are systematically working to improve our cooperation with the Samara region. Strengthening interregional agglomerative relations with neighbors will allow us to work together in many areas important for our regions, which includes making a new successful investment interregional model. Currently, we are launching a new investment cycle in the Ulyanovsk region, and our industrial sites are among the leaders of the rating on investment attractiveness of industrial parks and special economic zones. I think that we should expect successful joint activities with the Samara region in this sphere,” -said Sergey Morozov, Governor of Ulyanovsk Region.
The regions decided to combine their scientific, economic and infrastructure potential. Today, both sides are actively preparing to continue developing innovations, business support measures, interactions with investors and many other areas.
The Governor of Ulyanovsk Region Sergey Morozov and the Governor of Samara Region Dmitry Azarov agreed on the initiative to join efforts during the session "Regional Policy 2030: Solutions for Launching a New Investment Cycle", which took place at the Strong Ideas for New Times forum. The event was organized by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives and the Roscongress Foundation in Moscow in November 2020.
Currently, a draft agreement is under development. It aims to improve innovative cooperation between the Center for Innovative Development and Cluster Initiatives of Samara Region, the Federal High-Tech Center for Medical Radiology of FMBA of Russia, the Center for the Development of Nuclear Innovation Cluster in Dimitrovgrad, and ULNANOTECH - Ulyanovsk Center for Technology Transfer, LLC (Nanocenter).
Tourism can become another sector for cooperation between the two regions - they are discussing the possibility of creating joint interregional eco-friendly destinations.
Regional governments are also working together. In November 2020, a workshop was held via video conference with the participation of Alexander Smekalin (Chairman of the Government of Ulyanovsk Region), Sergey Vasin (CEO of Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation), Dmitry Bogdanov (Minister of Economic Development and Investments of Samara Region), and heads of development institutions and relevant agencies from both regions.
According to experts of the Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation, it is planned to sign an agreement between the regional governments to promote bilateral relations and to ensure effective cooperation and experience exchange in all areas of social and economic activities.
