Vladimir Kononov: "Ulyanovsk Region Is among Leaders in Innovative Development"
Vladimir Kononov, a member of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, a member of the Russian State Duma's Science and Education Committee, and Vice-President of the All-Russian Society of Inventors and Rationalizers (VOIR), spoke highly of the region's activities in the field of science and technology potential.
He emphasized, “The Ulyanovsk region does a lot to develop innovative technologies. Its nanocenter and Zavolzhye Industrial Park can serve as an example for the whole country. Thanks to Governor Sergey Morozov, these facilities were built and are actively working now. They have highly qualified specialists who are really interested in what they are doing. I would like to note that the Ulyanovsk region is still the Capital of Invention as your region previously won the competition of the All-Russian Society of Inventors and Rationalizers in 2019. In turn, I am ready to represent interests of the region in Moscow, and I will also do my best to support development of innovations, inventions and education.”
During the meeting with Governor Sergey Morozov, attendees discussed participation of the region in the events of the Year of Science and Technology announced by President Vladimir Putin in 2021. It was decided that Vladimir Kononov would become the Ambassador of the Ulyanovsk Region within the thematic year.
“We continue paying attention to the support of inventors and rationalizers. The Ulyanovsk region is in the Top-10 of the ranking created by the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia (AIRR). We take the leading positions in terms of science and technology potential, as well as in the index of funding provided for scientific developments. Now we are working to adjust the Strategy of Social and Economic Development of the Region to 2030, which will support science and development of high technologies. Vladimir Mikhailovich spoke highly of the nanocenter, and his opinion is very important for us. ULNANOTECH has indeed become a breeding ground for innovative projects, which are now widely known abroad,” - said Sergey Morozov.
As part of Vladimir Kononov's official visit, a new chairman of the Ulyanovsk regional office of VOIR was selected during the official ceremony. Professor Andrey Pavlushin (Doctor of Engineering Sciences, Dean of the Engineering Faculty at Ulyanovsk State Agrarian University) filled the position.
He commented, “The Ulyanovsk region has things to be proud of. We take a leading position in the number of patent applications for useful models and inventions; the region also has Russia's first Multifunctional Innovation Center. One of the key tasks for development of VOIR's Ulyanovsk regional office in 2021-2031 will include creating favorable conditions to involve scientists, inventors, rationalizers, amateur authors, engineers and technicians, plant and factory workers, organizations, students and postgraduates in developing solution for the problems currently present in various industries. Together with the Agency for Technological Development of Ulyanovsk Region, we have developed an action plan for activities that will be held within the Year of Science and Technology in our region. The nearest landmark event is the All-Russian VOIR Conference, which will take place at the regional nanotechnological center.”
