Ulyanovsk Region Has Provided Tourism Services Worth More Than 21 Million Rubles Thanks to Cashback Programme
The region is going to take part in the third stage of the programme by the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism), which was announced at a meeting with members of the Government of the Russian Federation. The event took place on 10 March and was chaired by President Vladimir Putin.
“It is the first time when 350 thousand residents of our country were able to go on a trip thanks to the state's support, and they also saved 20% of the total cost. About more than half of these people are families with children, so it is very important for them to save money. In fact, we made all these programmes primarily for families with children. It is important that all categorized health centers that offered dozens of post COVID-19 programmes took part in the tourism cashback project. People could go there to either improve their health or recover after the illness. We are currently starting to prepare for the summer season. We can see that the situation is gradually returning to normal, and this gives us hope for a full-scale summer tourist season. So far, we have reached an agreement with regional tour operators, the industry itself and large hotel networks to open this holiday season on 1 May and to close it at the end of September,” said Zarina Doguzova, Head of the Federal Agency for Tourism.
In addition, it is planned to expand the charter-flight programme by summer through a separate subsidy - it will help to introduce 12 new destinations with direct flights from several large cities of the country.
In 2020, two stages of the project were implemented to stimulate affordable domestic trips by reimbursing some of paid services as part of the loyalty programme for “Mir” cardholders. The programme included more than 20 tourist routes in the Ulyanovsk region, activities in health centers, and more than 30 hotels in the region.
“By the end of the programme, the Ulyanovsk region has provided tourism services worth more than 21 million rubles. According to the data presented by tour operators and collective accommodation establishments, more than 700 people took part in the programme; about 300 of them received treatment in health centers, and 290 used services of local tour operators. More than 150 tourists lived in city hotels,” - said Denis Ilyin, Director of the Ulyanovsk Region Agency for Tourism.
One of the key events for the industry in 2021 will be development and launch of a new national project "Tourism and Hospitality". Implementation of the national project, which was supported by President Vladimir Putin, is designed up to 2030. It primarily aims to increase the number of domestic holiday trips and to upgrade the industry. At the initiative of Governor Sergey Morozov, the Ulyanovsk region is working to design its own regional projects.“Of course, development of domestic tourism is still an important task for us. We must do our best to create perfect conditions for those of our citizens who want to have a holiday in Russia. First of all, infrastructure requires further upgrades. This requires both time and investment, as well as state support. But it is also clear that we are to support all programmes used for development of domestic tourism,” - the President emphasized.
