Aleksey Russkikh Is Introduced to Aviation Potential of Ulyanovsk Region and Its Training Programme

On 10 May, the Acting Governor visited a number of facilities, as well as the Interregional Competence Center and Ulyanovsk Civil Aviation Institute.

He said, “I spent this day learning about the aviation industry, including training of specialist for it. I visited plants of Aviastar-SP, Promtech-Ulyanovsk and Spectrum-Avia for the first time and met with their management to discuss production programmes, plans and issues of concern. Training is important. That is why we discussed in detail equipment upgrade at Ulyanovsk Aviation College - Interregional Competence Center and Ulyanovsk Civil Aviation Institute. There is high demand for skilled workers, so it is important to have good modern conditions for training of personnel.”

About 8,500 specialists have graduated from Ulyanovsk Civil Aviation Institute named after Air Chief Marshal B.P. Bugaev since its establishment; about 2.5 thousand pilots received education based on ICAO standards. Currently, the institute has the largest training center in the country that works with cadets, aviation specialists from Russian and foreign airlines, and air traffic controllers.

Ulyanovsk Aviation College - Interregional Competence Center also trains personnel for the aviation industry. During his visit, Aleksey Russkikh examined practice grounds, the gym and the auditorium, the media center, the dormitory and training rooms. This year, eight new workshops will be opened at the center as part of the national project "Education". They include "Software Solutions for Business", "Web Design and Development", "Computer Games and Multimedia Applications Development", "Development of Mobile Applications," "Installation of Aircraft Electrical Components", "Assembly of Aircraft Parts", "External Piloting and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles", and "Computer-Aided Design (CAD)".

Aviastar-SP is currently the largest aircraft factory in Russia. It specializes in production of Il-76MD-90A transport aircraft, as well as passenger and cargo aircraft of Tu-204 line. The factory also provides maintenance services to An-124 Ruslan transport aircraft. Spectrum-Avia plant is located in the territory of Aviastar-SP. The facility paints all kinds of aircraft. Promtech-Ulyanovsk can be found at the Port Special Economic Zone. The company specializes in manufacturing of aircraft components.
