Ulyanovsk Region to Introduce New Orlan Rail Buses in 2022

This will improve transport services in several settlements of the region - such as Inza, Veshkayma and Maina, which are among the ten largest territories in terms of population.

At the meeting for integrated development of the region, Minister of Transport Evgeny Lazarev reported to Governor Aleksey Russkikh that rail buses will be introduced in Ulyanovsk-Inza and Ulyanovsk-Dimitrovgrad sectors in the second half of 2022. It is planned to add two three-car trains with up to 229 seats in each of them. They will have comfortable spacious cabins with noise insulation, good lighting and modern seats.

“By replacing the rolling stock with modern RA-3 Orlan rail buses and revising the schedule of suburban trains in Ulyanovsk-Inza and Ulyanovsk-Dimitrovgrad sectors, we will create a solid passenger railway system in the Ulyanovsk region. The vehicles will be more comfortable and the travelling time will be reduced,” said the head of the relevant department.

Evgeny Lazarev also said that high-class Ulyanovsk-Moscow trains with double-decker cars will be put into operation in the near future.

As a reference:

The Ulyanovsk region has 13 suburban trains. Two more were added in 2021 for residents in Novospassky and Nikolayevsky districts.
