Alexey Russkikh and Heads of Ulyanovsk Companies Discuss Increase in Production Capacities and Export

On 2 December, the Governor of Ulyanovsk Region visited facilities of Italon, Leonis, and Furniture Group to discuss development plans with their management.

Alexey Russkikh said, “Products made by enterprises of the Ulyanovsk region are in demand not only in Russia, but also abroad. We will continue to support our export companies. Measures are being taken to promote local manufacturers, which, in turn, increases production and profits and creates new jobs. There are also preferential loan programmes.”

Leonis makes and sells upholstered furniture, which is delivered to Russian regions and the CIS countries (Belarus and Kazakhstan). In the near future, it is planned to start negotiations with the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.

OOO "Italon" designs and manufactures equipment for satellite-based and fuel monitoring. Freight transport surveillance systems are also produced under this trademark. The company currently exports its products to India, Uzbekistan and Estonia.

Furniture Group ("Mebelnyi koncern") manufactures soft furniture and delivers it all around the country and to Kazakhstan. The company was among those who supported Ulyanovsk soldiers and promptly made additional uniforms for them. The management is going to expand production by opening a new sewing workshop. It is also planned to place an extra focus on equipment, tactical backpacks and first-aid kits.

According to Ruslan Gainetdinov, Head of the regional center "My Business", new convenient supply chains are being developed for exporters by the order of the Governor of Ulyanovsk Region. Together with Iranian partners, the region is preparing to open a new logistics channel (Middle Volga - Enzali - Kazvin). The project will provide direct cargo deliveries by river- and sea-going vessels from Ulyanovsk ports to Iran (along the Volga to the Caspian Sea), to the port in Enzali and to terminal warehouses in Kazvin. This will help entrepreneurs maintain deliveries without unnecessary intermediaries, as well as use the advantages of free ports and specialized customs terminals to store products made in Russian regions. The route will become part of the North-South transport corridor, which due to the difficult trade relations with unfriendly countries, has become one of the main channels and reduces delivery time from the Indian Ocean basin to the banks of the Volga.

The agreement on implementation of the Middle Volga - Enzali - Kazvin project was reached during the official visit of the Ulyanovsk region delegation to Iran in September 2022.
