Governor Sergey Morozov supervised the progress on improvement of Ulyanovsk transport infrastructure

On 16 November the head of the region visited the railway station "Ulyanovsk-Centralny" and the international Airport "Ulyanovsk" (named after N. M. Karamzin).

Examining the completed works in the station building, the Governor drew attention to the need of carrying out complex renovation of the adjacent territory.

"In addition to renovation of the facility's front side we should clean up the territory in front of it. Moreover, all adjacent areas are required to adhere to the highest standards of landscaping. It is necessary to create the most comfortable conditions for both guests of the region and Ulyanovsk residents, especially the ones living in the streets around the station. It is also necessary to explore the possibility of housing stock renovation in this district", - the head of the region noted.

According to the Head of the Kuibyshev Regional Directorate of railway stations Andrey Komarovsky, the total cost of this work on modernization of the station may be estimated at 150 million rubles. "Currently repairs of the tourist hall are carried out. Mounting of the roof is complete, as well as works on renewal of the water disposal system. At the moment, replacement of stained-glass windows and window constructions is performed", - the Head reported.

According to the experts of the regional Ministry of Industry, Construction,        Housing and Utility Services and Transport, within the framework of the railway station modernization it is also planned to perform improvement of the station square. Now work on transfer of this territory to municipal property is conducted.

On the same day, the head of the region has also reviewed the progress on reconstruction of a runway of the Ulyanovsk (Baratayevka) International Airport. According to the relevant agencies, 70% of the construction and installation works amounting to over 1 billion rubles have already been completed, which includes paving of the top layer of asphalt on the runway. In accordance to the new standards, its length will be 3100 meters.

"Now laying of asphalt surface on roadsides and perimeter pavement of the runway is ongoing, and sewer pipes are being laid along the runway and towards sanitation facilities. Works on communication and electricity cable installation, as well as flagging of the air strip are in progress. Installation of artificial surface on the platform 1 and laying of road concrete mix on the platform 2 is in process", - said Oleg Babkin, the Vice Rector for airfield technical support of flights of the Ulyanovsk Institute of Civil Aviation in the name of Air Chief Marshal B.P.
