The Ulyanovsk region to earn support for reconstruction of the railway station "Ulyanovsk-Central" in 2017
The Governor Sergey Morozov and the President of JSC Russian Railways Oleg Belozyorov discussed the issue of development of regional transport infrastructure during a meeting, which took place at the X International Forum "Transport of Russia".
"Traffic safety is one of the most important matters for us. As a result of negotiations with the President of the Russian Railways, we are now confident that railway-crossings will be built in cities of the Ulyanovsk region. This will certainly make transport infrastructure of the region more comfortable for its inhabitants", - the Governor emphasized.
According to the head of the region, a solid partnership has developed between the Ulyanovsk region and JSC Russian Railways. It allows to solve problems in the sphere of regional railway transport development in close cooperation with each other. Thanks to this interaction, infrastructure of railway stations and passenger platforms has been renovated successfully for several years.
Reconstruction of the station Ulyanovsk-Central has started this year on the basis of the partnership between the Government of the Ulyanovsk region and JSC Russian Railways. The project includes replacement of the roof and facades of the station buildings, as well as renovation of facilities of the central wing and the ground floor.
"Russian Railways intends to complete reconstruction of the station as fast as possible. This means that all works related to modernization of the facility should be finished in 2017. We will also consider the issues on improvement of railway station squares in collaboration with administrations of Ulyanovsk and Dimitrovgrad. The funds for these purposes will be allocated to municipalities from the regional budget", - said Andrey Tyurin, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Ulyanovsk region.
We would like to remind that within the project, renovation of Inza railway station was carried out in 2015, and this year - in Dimitrovgrad.
Participants of the meeting also paid attention to interaction with JSC Bashkortostan Suburban Passenger Company on the organization of suburban passenger transportations by rail. In 2016, Inza-Syzran commuter rail has resumed its work (it was cancelled a few years ago). Now residents of the Ulyanovsk and Samara regions can use services of electric trains on daily basis.
