Red Cruise project to be implemented in the Ulyanovsk region

In the region, work is continuing on building partnership with the People's Republic of China. In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the Russian-Chinese interregional cooperation, which format is named "Volga-Yangtze", has been carried out since 2013 in order to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and China.

 On July 19, the first meeting of Council for Cooperation between the Volga Federal District, the Russian Federation, and the Upper and Middle Reaches of Yangtze River, the People's Republic of China took place in the region under the chairmanship of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich and the Member of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Yang Jiechi. With active involvement from the Governor Sergey Morozov, the Ulyanovsk region is successfully implementing and developing about 20 joint projects in collaboration with China. These include tourism and the largest project in this sphere is the grand tour "Red Route".

"The Red Route is a cultural and educational eight-day-long grand tour to the "three capitals" of Russia and the homeland of Lenin on the route Moscow - Ulyanovsk - Kazan - St. Petersburg, This year, we included new destinations under this umbrella brand. One of them is the "Red Cruise", which we developed together with Sputnik Hermes and then included in the traditional programme of the "Red Route". This is a river cruise with a visit to three cities located on the great Volga River: Samara, Ulyanovsk, Kazan", - the Director of the Agency for Tourism Yulia Skoromolova explained.

This project was presented at the International Travel Fair "Intourmarket", as well as at the Russia-China Tourism Forum in Beijing. The river cruise, which has already been approved by tourists from the People's Republic of China, will be fully functional in 2017.

"Under Volga-Yangtze cooperation, a number of agreements was signed with the largest tour operators of Samara "Intourist Thomas Cook" and "Sputnik Hermes to provide services to tourists from the People's Republic of China. The agreements aim to create thematic programmes for foreign guests for 2017. In order to increase the next year's tourist flow, we will present our projects at the V Russia-China Tourism Forum and at the China International Travel Mart exhibition. It is also planned to hold promotional tours to the Ulyanovsk region for tour operators of the People's Republic of China", - said the Acting Minister of Art and Culture Marina Mikheyeva.

Perspectives of the interregional cooperation (Volga-Yangtze format) in such spheres as trade, economic and humanitarian relations were discussed on December 16 in Nizhny Novgorod at a meeting of the Russian part of the Joint Working Group of regions of the Volga Federal District and the Upper and Middle Reaches of Yangtze River of the People's Republic of China. The Deputy Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District Alexey Sukhov chaired the meeting. According to participants of the meeting, the total amount of joint investment projects shows efficiency of the Volga-Yangtze format. Currently both parties are working on 56 projects; 25 of them have already been implemented or are at the stage of practical realization. There is also active cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. Thirty-four projects have already been implemented in the field of education, culture, tourism and youth policy. Another 51 ones are being developed.
